I've just had to google the word "doozy" as I'd never heard it before.

Outstanding or unique of its kind....in case anyone else was wondering.

Very true, best one I saw was a 5,000 payment - I contacted HMRC, asked a few pertinent questions about ‘what if it is an error’. No it’s not an error answer - yes yes its right, it was owed to them from the previous year the system calculated it is owed and is the correct entitlement

They went booked a holiday, brought some furniture. Went on a spending spree.

Dreaded letter the following week highlighting a 5,000 overpayment. It was HMRC administration error and could not enforce repayment.

... ("to help hard working families")...
I thought the 'hard working families' line was more a Call Me Dave thing.

May is more about the JAMs.

There were some pretty scary horror stories with the introduction of the 'tax credit' system upon introduction, but i think they are fewer and fartherer between now that it is more established.

As flawed as it may or may not be, Iain Duncan Smith, with his typical 'energy' and 'effectiveness', has managed to have no discernible effect on this system other than spending huge amounts of money not implementing any change to it whatsoever.

Which is why he is the obvious 'go to guy' when you need answers as to how Brexit will work fabulously in our favour.

How do I edit this?
I thought the 'hard working families' line was more a Call Me Dave thing.

Indeed it was he who was in charge when the manifesto in question was published...

Also "JAMs"?

Edit: with Google's assistance i now know JAM is an acronym for just about managing.

The thread has been soiled.

This is soiled:

[Image removed by Admin. This is not some teenage "shock" site where kids post pictures of poo to gross one another out]

The thread most certainly is not.

Typed the man who has had a bit too much red wine...
