The bit that worries me is that I remember reading in 09 planning documents an exchange about the installation of a bus gate at the roundabout, preventing cut through and forcing all the new residents to use Fairway. It's bad enough already for parking, speeding and getting on to Riverway, removing the alternative route will make it much worse.

Couldn't see anything like that on the updated plans and the nice man from transport didn't mention it.

Apologies - I had forgotten the unofficial forum rule about never being optimistic about the traffic. It'll be worse than Beijing & Riyadh put together...

I think the average number of cars per household on new estates is higher than elsewhere. I have no scientific data for this, I've only used my eyes when walking round places like Saxonfields, The Meadows and suchlike. Some houses have four cars, most have two and it's rare to see one car households. Indeed, there are two cars in my household, mine and my son's and if my wife could drive, I imagine there would probably be three.

I suspect you're right, but then there are cars like mine that aren't often on the road at the usual 8.30 & 5pm rushes. I'd imagine you'd be fairly safe to discard the 24% of households that don't have a car from any calculations as I suspect they're concentrated in very urban areas or social housing.

My point was that your post implied that the roadworks on the A34 had finished, which they most definitely have not, by anybody's definition. I agree with you that when/if they ever do, traffic on your road should get a lot lighter.

I would have thought though, that the new housing would add to the problems at school delivery/pickup times as, even though the school is only a stone's throw from the development, most parents will inevitably drive...

A lot of parents drive their children to school because they are taking them on their way to work. Not all of course, but a lot.

The drawing showing offices doesn't match the drawing immediately below showing houses?

The drawing showing the factory development was from a previous plan when it was going to be modernised!

I wish they'd build up, we need some dozens of stories tall skyscrapers in Stafford, that'll sort the flooding issues too.
