Who is buying all these new houses being built, genuine question? Big estate north of Parkside, the place at the top of the Eccleshall Road, Tixall Road big new estate, that's alot of houses and I'm sure i've missed some :(

All the immigrants....

How do they afford them? I didn't realise picking cabbages was such a well paid job!!

Last time I checked they didn't have any money either.

My guess is the influx of people moving from pricier places because they want a proper house, not a shoebox or a flat somewhere.
There has been a noticeable increase in southern accents around here over the past few years.

fair point. With over 1000 homes vacant in Stafford for varying reasons, one does wonder why the urgency and all the houses.

that said, as government see Stafford a growth town and investment area so it is not really much of a local say.

There is a housing shortage in the UK but I do wonder where all the new inhabitants are coming from. I expect the majority are existing Stafford residents that are looking for a new home or local 1st time buyers rather than outsiders.

The housing market is skewed in this country to the point it's actually easier and cheaper for 1st time buyers to buy a more expensive new build than a 2nd hand home. If the government wants to help 1st time buyers and encourage the take up of 2nd hand properties they need to offer the same incentives that the national house builders can do; shared ownership schemes; builders deposits; saving schemes; legal fees paid for / waived etc.

I haven't looked at the plans as on my mobile. What sort of houses are they? 2, 3, 4 or 5 bed?

I'm on the Crossings and I'm not sure if I'd ever buy another new home if we ever moved....

Southerners using Stafford as a cheap place to live while they commute to London on HS2.

A mix if I remember correctly - the word 'executive home' was banded around a lot if I recall.

Personally I see these houses as for commuters who want a quick and easy exit from the place, and add little to the community and town but add alot ot traffic. Bad times!

I'm a commuter but I'm born and bred in Stafford. We are a transient population and all use services / facilities in different towns and villages. We all have a right to live in a nice house and in an area where we want to live.

I know a lot of people that are moving to the new estates - they are all moving from another house in Stafford.

Me too, I want to live in the area but don't have a job in the area. I feel I add plenty to the community, far more than some who work where they live.

Friends of ours are desperate to move this bit of Stafford but houses for the most part sell quite quickly. I also know of others on the street that have outgrown their houses and want to stay close by but are stuck as there's not much that comes up for sale that's a decent size and still close enough to town.
