Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

Yep, my Golf has rear fog switched by pulling out headlamp knob. (cue jokes about pulling knobs out)

Ford are (or were) similar in that you have to pull out headlamp knob to get fogs, and only when headlamps on. Think it was one click out to get rear then another click added the front ones.

So I ran a few feet of fibre optic cable into the fitting and up onto the handle-bar, so that I could see instantly if the bulb was actually emitting light. I've been running LEDs for the last few years with no failures.
Hellfire!!

Dont get me wrong, I am an occasional cycler and appreciate sometimes its safer to go on paths, but not at the expense of pedestrians.
Cars parked on the pavement are a far more widespread menace to pedestrians. Not sure why drivers can't get into their thick skulls that pavements are for people not cars.

As far as bikes on pavements go, none of them should be there, and most will adjust their riding. For the odd ones that don't, I stand my ground - they will usually lose their nerve first.

Hubby stands his ground but he's bigger & more scary looking than me!

There's a van down our road which is permanently parked on the pavement right up against a street light so no chance of squeezing past. (He's had a 'for sale' sign in the window for ages so looks like it's there til it's sold!).

The car trailers who park on the pavement outside Knights on Radford bank are a pain. Most leave about a foot of path between the trailer & prickly hedge to sidle past but occasionally they park right up against the hedge, meaning I have to take my chance and sprint past on the road. The cars are already driving close to the trailer to squeeze through and it's a never ending stream of traffic.

I think it's VW Golfs that have designed the headlamp switch so you after you've switched the lights on you pull it out to switch the fogs on. You can't switch the lights off without pushing the switch in first and turning off the fogs. Thus resetting the system every time and helping to prevent people driving about 4 days later still with their fog lights on. Brilliantly simple piece of design

My old MK1 focus had exactly the same design, I did think it was a good idea.

In one five minute journey this morning I had to break sharply twice to avoid hitting someone. First a taxi decided not to give way on corporation street, then someone turning right onto the street I was traveling along cut the corner right in front of me.

The poor driving I saw today was my own. Shocking. I don't know what was the matter with me. It is only due to good fortune and the evasive action of others that I didn't cause harm. If you came into my orbit today all I can do is apologise and hope normal service is resumed tomorrow.

Held in with no fasteners!
Push the switch in,in off position, turn to the right, extract!

Another new trend, people who indicate after the turn. Some silly bugger was in the left hand lane (near the railway station) to go towards tesco (was already driving like a drongo) then as I move into the right to go towards newport he decides to turn into me and then indicate as I'm forced onto the opposite side of the road, to avoid him...

It's not the driving that needs worrying about, it's every other muppet on the road, I ventured into town earlier and could have potentially killed least 8 people through no fault of my own. The first 4 were students who despite the installation on a new Zebra crossing, a pair decided to step out in front of me from between two parked busses, another walked out without looking by The Bird (that is NOT a zebra crossing) then another at the junction of mill street. Then after going about my business in town an ignorant old git walked out in front of me at the bottom of Mill Street (again NOT a zebra crossing) and shot me a filthy look like how dare I be driving on a ROAD!!!!!! he wanted to cross and I sat there while at least 10 other people walked across, I wouldn't mind but not one of them bothered to acknowledge me sat there like a lemon waiting for them to get off the frikkin road. Another pair walked straight across while I was going right on the roundabout at forcing me to stop in the middle of the roundabout and again looked at me like it was my fault. Then as drove through Doxey I had some (presumably drunk) elderly chap hwho couldn't keep his push bike in a straight line. I didn’t dare overtake as he was all over both sides of the road so sat behind him for about half a mile doing about 6 mph. I think I’ll stay at home in future.

Also what is with the bike club, those in the bright orange and yellow tops, they are the most ignorant bunch of individuals I have ever had the misfortune to come across on a fairly regular basis. Why do they insist on riding 3 abreast down lanes and refuse to move over when a car is behind them (Highway code says no more than 2 abreast and single file on narrow of busy roads) It’s like they do it on purpose, like they believe they have more right to the roads than those who pay road tax and fuel tax and are trying to get to work, or drop their kids off at nursery. Common courtesy cost nothing!

There used to be a 'Stop' sign there, but I believe that it may have gone with the improvements..

To The idiot who drove through an amber onto the Queensway/ Lichfield rd yellow box tonight when there were already two idiots already stuck on the yellow box ahead of him, you not only blocked the Queensway exit for at least three turns of lights changes an emergency vehicle on blue lights nearly never made it through, I hope you are suitably proud of yourself!

When are the police going to start dishing out the required three points to these people who can not follow the basic rules of the road?

Excellent link, thank you. Have you seen the their forum link on it currently contains two test posts that look like some kind of Harry potter spell , which I presume is Latin.
Where's that? I did see that they want to spend another £23/28,000 on an Executive Assistant for him - http://www.staffordshire-pcc.gov.uk/News-and-Events/Vacancies.aspx - who must have "experience in IT systems/software, such as Microsfot Word/Power Point and Excel" - seems like that might need somebody with experience of spell-checkers...

Ah, found it. That's just a test piece. http://www.lipsum.com/

That is shared space between vehicle users and pedestrians. The idea is that creating said shared space means you do not have right of way over pedestrians nor do they have right of way over you. Everybody is meant to co-exist in harmony, and it has to be said that, generally, it works quite well. I always approach that end of Mill Street prepared to stop, as do a majority of other road users I have observed.

I am always prepared to stop, thats why I managed not to hit the old git! I just object to his attitude.

In both of those circumstances, did it really hurt to be considerate to pedestrians? Being in a motor car doesn't give you superiority over other road users.

When you're cycling in a group, it isn't safe to cycle in a long single file line due to knobs in cars....

After your first paragraph its a little ironic to talk about common courtesy!!

The inference of what you're saying about paying tax is that you think you have "more right" than a cyclist... But motoring taxes do not cover the costs imposed by motor cars.
