I read an interesting article today saying that Facebook have bought a content sharing service called Friend Feed

Apparently this acquisition will now put them into competition with Google and Twitter as it operates a ‘real time’ search engine!

The great news with this is that there will be no jobs lost as all employees and the companies’ four founders will join Facebook!

All I can say is why can’t all acquisitions be like this? GO ON FACEBOOK!

P.S. Have any of you heard of friend feed? I am going to check it out now hehe

yeah i read about this earlier. There is a massive land grab at the moment in what most industry players are calling 'real-time search'.

Although i can see the potential i think it's well funny. Sometimes there is an event or situation where having a forum for anyone on the net to become a 'reporter' is brilliant, case and point the Iranian ellection. While things like this use the technology in an amazing way it doesn't take away from the fact that 96% of the time these services only offer updates on what coffee Beth from Ohio ordered at starbuck.

It'll never catch n this internet bollards.

Other giggle i had earlier is that Google is now in league with the royal mail so you can run offline-ad (snail-mail spam) campaigns through G and her highnesses mail. :P Mischief!

I seem to remember some tokens for $250 free adwords coin. So, we offline spam all the impresionable chavs in a given town (Stafford) with postcards exclaiming that Lady GA-gA is Lady-boy Ga-Ga or any other pointless and slightly amusing spam.

Or you could be a grown up and use this properly.

how come no-one has picked up on the bizarre inclusion of this line, complete with random hyperlink? it makes the whole post look like it was just well-phrased spam designed to get google to index the "jobs" link :strange:

The plot thickens! In one of the links MyCult has provided, not only is the same message posted by someone with the same username as the OP of this thread, but one of the users who replied appears to also be a user here!

I have removed the offending URLs now. :)

ah, i assume this is what admin was alluding to, above ;)

it's weird, though - emily-o has made other posts prior to this, that seem to be legitimate, joining in existing conversations, etc.. i can only assume that josie & emily-o are real people, who enjoy a bit of casual spamming on the weekends as part of some bizarre hobby! lol

it was mycult that did the leg work, i was just commenting on what i saw in the post he linked on that warwickshire forum!

Hi Guys if I had known this would offend I would never have made this post I do apologise!

I work for a Job Board and just thought I would add this link as it was relevant to what I was writing - no offence was meant at all!

Emily and I do know each other - we have been friends for a while and have the same interests - anyway sorry once again it won't happen again!

i don't think anyone was offended, really - it was just weird that exactly the same post appeared all across the internet, which made it look like it was a spam post, done by a spam bot.. but it was obvious that that wasn't the case, as you and emily have both made other posts round here and it was clear that you are real people! lol..
