People who are keen to go to this event may want to check out this thread, it explains all about the new registration thingy that Eavis has invented.

This might be my 1st time ever to go to Glastonbury so I'm well keen. Anyone got any useful advice?

I'm thinking of renting a VW camper van from Freedom Caravans near BMW garage instead of camping because I f@$king hate tents.

Ia any Forumite thinging of going this year?

you massive gay, stay in a tent like a normal person! if you really are going to take a van, take out insurance on it because it will get loved/stuck in mud/shat in/etc..

oh, and FYI everybody - my bro no longer works for that ticket agency, so he can't score us tickets any more :eek:

this obviously puts our chances of actually going this year in jeopardy :shifty:

I drove around Europe in a beaten up old Vauxhall Cav sleepin rough and if lucky in a tent for nearly a month after I graduated from uni, when I finally returned to the 'Ford I said to myself never will I ever sleep or set foot in a tent again. This was supposed to be a sort of holiday / travelling trip, it kind of went a bit wrong as it developed a fear of tents. This I why I choose the Camper Van option, but don't fear I'm quite sure everything else connected with this festival will be fully experienced.

I think a camper van is a good idea, particularly at festivals where it's so easy to get disgustingly dirty within a day.

One of the funniest camping at festival moments I have is of Jimbob spending 3 days trying to inflate his newly purchased air bed, lets just say it never really achieved its full potential and Jimbob spent the entire weekend moaning about it alot!! But very early on that miserable monday when it came to packing up, the bloody thing refused to deflate(I'm laughing now thinking about it) and how we howled watching him struggle the mile and a half back to the car.

I only carted it all back to the car so I could take it back to Argos and get my money back.

having gone to glasto when it was give a fiver to a pikey and get in all dodgy like, i went quite a few times and it was ace. thing is none of the uber hippies can get in now as they will never pay - and they were the ones that made it such a mad atmosphere. that and the odd 100 odd thousand that used to get in for free as well. i can only imagine that its damaged the amosphere of the place a wee bit. not trying to put you off like, im just an old fart in a 'its not as good as it used to be' manner.

Not sure yet Gloop. Probably not till around march/april. Rumour has it that dire straits may perform. This, for me, would be worth the ticket money alone :)
