Just to let everyone know a Golden lab/retreiver (I can't remember what they said but one or the other) has been found at Ladfordfields Industrial Estate near Great Bridgeford. The Kabin (the local cafe onsite) have caught, fed, watered and secured the dog and are waiting for "the pound" to come and pick him up. He has a collar but no ID apparently (I have not seen the dog just heard from them) He seems a lovely dog, a bit afraid at first but once he was fed wanted to give everyone handshakes.

He was wandering around in busy traffic and under lorries.

If anyone wants further info let me know and I'll pass on the Kabin's details.

unfortunately I fear he may have been abandoned beause apparently this is a favourite spot for dog abandoning.

No collar on him? Poor little thing.

BTW is that a council run "pound" - hope they have a non-destructive policy???? :(

I dont know where they're sending him to they just said they had "called the pound" so I dont know whether he will be put down (fingers crossed not!). He does have a collar but I dont know the colour or anything as I havn't actually seen the dog. but no ID on the collar otherwise they would have called the owner instead of "the pound". Hopefully he will have a microchip. Or if he has been abandoned a new loving home!

Just thought I'd mention in case anyone hears of a golden doggy going missing over this side of town. We're kinda in the middle of nowhere unless he came over from Great Bridgeford or Seighford but he may have gone on an adventure over the fields. There is a public footpath through some of them so maybe he got off his lead during walkies chasing after a rabbit or something.

He's had some fuss and sausages so I think he's happy for now.

Spoke to the nice ladies in the sandwich shop today - the "dog people" (pound, council pound, RSPCA, whoever they were - I hereby call them the "dog people") checked the pooch over and found a microchip.

They will be attempting to contact the owners and returning the little critter home.

Will let you all know if we hear any new updates!

Great news. I know the state I was in when my dog went missing. Some saintly people found her, put her in their car and drove to the nearest village (fortunately ours), asking the first people they met if they recognised her. Fortunately it's the kind of place where everyone knows each other so she was restored to her sobbing owner. I am sure that somewhere, there is a home which must feel very empty without this dog!

to give this thread a happy ending just letting you know the dog got home thanks to his microchip! He lives close by and had escaped.

Excellent news! Thanks for the update, Vault_girl. It's always easy to forget to post the happy conclusion when one gets caught-up in the joyous reunion shenanigans. :D

That's good news.

Microchipping is great, however having a decent collar and tag saves time. I managed to take a dog back to its house a few weeks ago from reading the tag.

Good news, indeed. Top marks to all involved.

I wonder how long before there's an app for reading microchips that plans a route back to the animal's home?..
