From Facebook:

"Quick overview from the drop-in session on 14th November about the flooding on Sandon Road.

Environmental Agency insist money is there waiting to be used but the benefit-cost ratio is not viable.

A lady from Environmental Agency visitied certain properties to produce a report regarding property level protection. Report is expected shortly and will show what protection is available for properties and the cost involved.

Flooding is caused by subsidence from historic brine pumping

Severn Trent Water are looking into draining pipes. Pipes are currently unable to handle the amount of water during heavy rainfall"

So they’re looking into various options. Maybe they should dig a test hole & them our esteemed member can also look into it. Deffo a photo op somewhere there. 😀

It reads like the EA. Is looking at either increasing higher up storage or dig out the brook, neither of which would actually fix the issue that they say is due to runoff at the garage area.

If it really is 'just' runoff at the garage area itself a bloody big hole that goes to the brook would fix it all?

That's not how it reads to me. They are don't say anywhere that it is water running off the garage area.

They don't but they do refer to surface water causing the problem not necessarily the brook , overflowing.

I would expect some of the water would come from the garage area as it is higher up and the access is on a slope from the Sandon Road.

Which car parks are usable tomorrow, for ppl coming back to work after a Xmas break? I.e. - not underwater.

Looks like Kingsmead/Aldi car park could be cut off if the rain continues.
We had to pop to B&M for something this evening, expected the usual lake Kingsmead on one side but we were shocked at how far it was encroaching on the rest of the car park.
