But take out the crossings and Rickerscote Road, West Way and The Green roundabout are the only signal controlled junctions in just over 3 miles of road. I think the pedestrian crossings are justified with how busy Wolverhampton Road is.Wyred said:If you leave the M6 at J13 and travel into town along the Wolverhampton Road, you will go through at least 10 sets of traffic lights (pedestrian crossings included)
If there's a crash on the M6 I think only 1 of the Stafford junctions should be open so that Stafford-only traffic can flow easier.henryscat said:When there's a total farce on there it could be an option to shut an exit slip to stop all the traffic piling through Stafford.
and who decides if it's 'clear and safe to go' if it's you then please inform us all when you're on the highway so at least we have the choice of steering clear or ramming you......gk141054 said:So by saying that people who disagree with you don't "know whats best for the town"..... doesn't that imply that you do think you know whats best for the town?highguyuk said:Too many people think they know best for the town, without actually knowing the full consequences.
I'm with DB on this... its obvious too many traffic lights are bad... especially on a roundabout, the whole point is if its clear and safe to go then you should do. If its clear and safe but you are on a red light... that will inevitably cause traffic to back up. Will also have implications with more "stop, start" driving = higher costs to drivers and environmental damage.
I'm not sure if I understand your post......???basil said:and who decides if it's 'clear and safe to go' if it's you then please inform us all when you're on the highway so at least we have the choice of steering clear or ramming you......
I know it was there because I've seen old photos of the junction from the late 70s and it was there. I'm told it was taken out so the big Abnormal Load Engineering transporters carrying GEC's wares could get down the road more easily.Gramaisc said:A smallish one, but not mini. It had a gated road through the centre for large vehicles. It probably went as part of the traffic light invasion associated with the Queensway. I may, of course, be hallucinating....
