He had to live somewhere - there is no obvious reason why where that was should not have been here.

Does it make a difference?

Buried today in Kashmir - thoughts for his folks, especially his parents.

No I don't suppose it does make a difference but I found the news surprising & felt it would be of interest on a forum dedicated to local issues.

Given you're the only person to reply in a week, I can only conclude I was wrong in that assessment.

But you're right, the parole service had to put him somewhere when he was released on license & Stafford in its unremarkableness, seems like a reasonable choice.

Apart from putting a Muslim terrorist in between a Catholic Church and a pub seems a little odd.

Given it was the end of our road it did feel like quite a big deal. I am well aware of the huge issues in Stoke with radicalisation but I don’t think stafford usually features as part of that conversation.

I wondered if that factored into it, that Stafford seemed safer from further radicalisation somehow

The 'does it make a difference' comment was more of a general question to everyone out there rather than one directed at yourself - was also a bit surprised there was no other mention of it .

That wasn't quite the point I was making, but one thing that is worth noting is the prominence Private Eye have given in the last, well probably about nine years now, about the deterioration of the parole service that has not been matched by the rest of our news outlets - spoiler alert, it's a feckin' mess.
