Lost Cat, Alliance Street

Hi everyone.

I am very sad to be writing this, but one of our cats has been missing for a week now. He's a gorgeous short haired tabby, neutered male. We last saw him on Wednesday 1st June. He is quite shy, but my daughters favourite, and as you can imagine she is very upset.

He doesn't wear a collar, but is micro-chipped, and is a nice healthy boy. Our house backs on to the Eccleshall Road allotments, so I'm assuming he has gone in that direction, so may be there or in the long gardens of the Eccleshall Road houses. He is shy of traffic, so I don't think he would have gone near a road.

If anyone has any information please PM me. We are desperate to have him home safely.

Many Thanks

Pictures of him are here:

Hoping for a successful outcome.

He looks clued up enough to get by. There are lots of sheds round that area, and people may have been away last week...

now listen, i really don't want to raise anyones hopes but i saw a cat kinda like this one in Marlborough Av last night, i have a cat myself and clock the cats in the area when they come mooching around and i had never seen this cat before, not saying it couldn't possibly be a neighbours cat from round the corner, don't get me wrong.

Though it's a little far for him to come and he looked in good spirit, i don't know, thought i'd say something just incase, i'll keep an eye open tonight and the next few days.

you'll have read about missing animals on here that have been found safe and sound, so stay positive.

Well, I've logged him as lost with the microchip company, spent an evening listing him on here and creating flyers, stressed fretted and worried...........................and the little git walks back in as if nothing has happened!! He re-appeared about 1 hour after I posted on here. Very happy to have him home, but he could have come home BEFORE I wasted an evening, but that's cats I guess.

Anyways, he was home brienfly although disappeared again before my daughter saw him. Thanks for all the positive messages.

Nope he's back home again tonight, so we've had a full family reunion. I've checked him over and he seems fine, he's had a big supper and he's now in the lad of nod, so everyone is happy.

Thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts and words, they are appreciated.

Hi, I think he may have travelled down to where I work in Greyfriars Bus Park. He sat outside our offices miaowing for ages. We tried to ignore him to encourage him to go home but he looked so pitiful by the end of the afternoon we had to give him a fuss. We could tell he'd wasn't a stray as he was so healthy looking and friendly. After a few hours we called the RSPCA who weren't interested and the local vets to see if they would scan him but they weren't interested either. I'm a huge cat lover and always keep a collar on mine even if they are chipped. If yours had had a collar on we'd have called you straight away - just a thought for the future. I'm so glad he came home to you and I'll let the others know at work, we were all worried about him!

mmmmmmmmmmmm, it's possible, but I would be really surprised if he had crossed the Eccleshall Road. He's terrified of cars, won't even go out the front of our house on Alliance Street which is pretty quiet. Also, he's very shy of strangers, so I'd be even more surprised if he wanted a fuss from someone he didn't know. However, cats are strange things so maybe he's had another side to him we've never seen :)

As for the collar, he's had about 5 all with expensive ID discs on. 4 of them are lost as he has gone out with his collar and returned without it! And the fifth one, he did bring home but with his front leg stuck through it. I decided then that the risk of the collar damaging him was higher than the risk of him getting lost - although I may re-evaluate after this last debacle!!!

Be interesting to see if the cat at your work returns at any point. If mine does go missing again, I'll come down and look for him there! Cheers

Maybe he crossed the road when it was quiet and failed to get back - or went under it on the old railway?

My two have been through about 10 collars between them. all with expensive tags on them. I'm thinkng if I get any more of changing to those pendants you can put a slip of paper in instead. Thoush they both get bald necks quite quickly from the collar rubbing so I have left them off for now. We're getting a lot more dead animals brought in though without the bells round their necks!
So glad he came home!

Well, he's disappeared again, only this time he has now been gone for 2 weeks. So if anyone has seen our tabby lad in the photos in the OP, please let me know.

After he went missing last time, and due to suggestions on this thread, I did take heed, and attired him with a very fetching pink collar and disc.

I have a suspician, mainly due to the length of his absences, and the fact that he returns home in great health that someone thinks he is a stray and is feeding him. Most likely areas are the houses that back on to the Eccleshall Road allotments. Do you know anyone in the Eccleshall Road, Pitt Street, Alliance Street, Holmcroft Road or Bramall Lane area who has recently been adopted by a tabby cat?

As per original post, would really like him home as my young daughter, and our cat's 3-legged litter brother are missing him greatly.

Thanks again

I wouldnt worry too much , its quite common for cats to bugger off ( pardon my language ) especially if other people are feeding them even if its a very loved well looked after kitty, they arent always the most loyal of pets although in my experience sometimes old ladies try to pinch them off by feeding them lots .

I thought it was quite usual for cats to stray off for a week or two every now and again? Ours certainly did when I was a kid.

Hope he returns again Kyoto49
