Lost Lavs - Top Ten

Reading a recent posting on the hidden bogs of the Market Square brought me to try and picture the lost bogs of the borough - although not too literally.

Whilst we can perhaps quote a well known supermarket and its long opening hours as a place to take a leak, I do seem to remember that public conveniences actually used to be fairly convenient at one time or other.

Here is my top ten list of the now demolished Stafford Lavatories:

1 Down the steps in the Market Square

2 By the Sow on the Doxey Road close the antique/Broad Eye chippy

3 At the entrance to the park opposite the now Tesco pumps

4 In the park by the paddling pool

5 At the rear of the Sun Smithfield/Wimpy, oh ok the Casa Nightclub

6 At the entrance to the common

7 By the bus stop in Rising Brook

8 Outside the station by the the site for the new four storey par cark

9 Erm, hang on, I need to go pay a visit..

10 Damn, no paper!

On the corner by the Cottage by the Brook. There's only a phone box there now - but that seems to suffice.

Lammascote Road, opposite the temporarily demolished Esso Garage. They were half demolished, it's now a flower planter.

Corner of market square where the town map with lights used to be?............very wrong!

The blue brick structure near the widmill chippy was nothing more than that, with a hole at the back that drained towards the river!! I held my breath every time I was sent for chips as I learned to run past the thing!

Actually this is a problem throughout the land. A lack of public conveniences. If it was not for fastfood restaraunts, cafes and supermarkets we would be in the s***. I recommend that all council buildings have a convenience available for public use!

don't mention the blinds
The Eagle had outside bogs which were easily accessible from the street and just before that the Mobil petrol station had bogs that again were used by the general public.......

Our largest retail area, apart from the town centre, doesn't have any lavs! How can that be allowed? Queensville can probably have hundreds on there at peak time with nowhere to go and nothing to go on! Shockin!
Its not a lost lav cos there's never been one. Sorry for going off track a bit.

Again, going off track a bit I believe that The Falcon was the last pub in Stafford to have outside bogs and this was one of the reasons it was closed for good, real shame, proper pub.
