Been into the new store for the first time today. It's great, just what Stafford has needed from a Marks & Spencer for a long time.

Food hall is excellent, men's section much better than old store, home section is, as had already been said, too small but at least there is a home section. Can't see how anyone could complain about the store overall.

Lots of people saying the new store is too far out, but it's all relative. Depends where you're coming from. If I go from work it's actually closer for me. I've recently moved to Cambridge street so now walk home down the riverside and it's a lovely walk, admittedly will be better when the shops/restaurants under the multi storey open.
As for how busy M&S food hall is, I've taken to popping in on my way home to pick up something for tea and it's been quite busy at that time of day. Maybe people are like me and have changed when they go in now it is open later? Also as it is so much bigger than the old food hall has it not occurred to anyone that it's just as busy, it just doesn't look as if it is because there is so much more space?
I agree it's a tad chilly in there though. Overall though the new M&S is far better than the old one. It looks lovely and is nice and spacious with a far greater choice than before. It's better laid out, it used to drive me mad going in the old one and not being able to move down the central aisle because I had either got stuck behind a slow moving oldie or a group of people were chatting.
As for the reduced stickers, it's to be expected with a new store. It will take a few weeks for them to gauge how much they need to order and new stores always err on the side of caution and stock too much rather than too little and end up disappointing people when they run out. Thumbs up M&S.

I think it you being reference with your random claims with no info to back up. Not even a he said she said.

that said M&S in its second weekend had its highest takings in 3 years outside the Christmas period. Source: the current manager, nice friendly chap. Have a word with a real source PPPPPP. Hugs and kisses. Xxxxxx

I walked through the store 2 weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon after parking underneath. Quite a few young staff members on hand to make sure I was ok ( I didn't have the heart to say I was only passing through). Not a load of customers but I did notice there was still a long queue at the checkout.

Give it time to find its feet, trialling a lot of lines we never had before so they have to see what works. The lack of a nearby bus route is the main issue I feel.

The bus stops outside Faulty Towers but M&S are trying to get a stop right outside the centre entrance.

So take Christmas trading out of the equation.

The manager reports that the new multi million pound store could only just beat the old store of 3 years ago.

Not great.

The new store is twice the size, isn't it?

But let's be careful with the negativity or else 'Mr Contacts' Garth will phone the CEO of M&S, Sir Philip Green and Mark Carney to give us the real story.
