well, i've just read through The Post and The Newsletter whilst on my lunch and didn't see mention of it in either of them.. you'd think they'd at least try advertising it if it is open!

Sign says now open, they could have done with advertising the fact though! Now we just need to see what the menu is like.
Great looking menu - £10.95 for a main, lots of good looking starters and sides, looks very tasty, tasteful decor, huge sombreros to wear at the bar, have not got their cocktail menu sorted just yet, BBC1 on the telly (Last Choir Standing is not very mexican, is it?). I'd recommend leaving it a week or two until they get settled. Ultimately, for me, it will depend on the authenticity of the nosh. The chap behind the bar used to run the Red Lion in Derrington and the Bear and Pheasant on Friars Terrace, and he certainly knows how to work a bar - very prompt and friendly service. But who will be the first to eat there???

Yeah, like you say, it'll be down to the food. Am hoping it'll be good, and not just be another 'theme' pub. Mind you, we have no Mexican nosh round here so anything is a bonus I suppose. Don't see the Bear and Pheasant or the Red Lion as good preparation for a Mexican, but as long as he can keep the beer well and gets a good chef in it should be good.
On a side note, went to the Labour in Vain out in Yarnfield on Sunday. Fran and Gary who used to run the bird have moved there, and a very nice pub it is too. They have a 60 seat restaurant and have a decent chef in, went for a sunday lunch but shall be trying their weekday menu soon hopefully. Very relaxing place, just a shame you have to drive to get there.
