Monsoon Stafford to close.

don't mention the blinds
I still have a number of shirts in my wardrobe, that go back to my early 20's!
I am 54!!!!! My son 19 wears a denim Levis shirt, (when I let him!) which is of that era! It was 2nd hand when I purchased it, and though the collar is a bit frayed and stained it is otherwise in pretty good nick 30 years on! I am a hoarder! I get some grief from 'er indoors'! ;)

Fribbo !......

Just to set the record straight once and for all, there are no current plans to close Monsoon in Stafford. The to let sign is there because the lease is currently up for negotiation and the landlord is well within his rights to put one up

It is certainly a well used tactic- and putting a "to let" board up in the last three months of a tenancy is standard practice. The Retailer is basically saying "reduce my rent, or try and find someone else who will pay you" they then hope that the landlord can 't find a new tenant and comes back with his tail between his legs and accepts the derisory offer made by the original tenant.

All very well but, many buildings are owned by pension companies who are investing in the value of the property itself, and care little about whether the building has a tenant in it or, on the other hand, know that accepting a lower rent may devalue the rental potential of their surrounding properties. The Retailer also has a chance to get out with no cost (and can blame the landlord). I would hope Monsoon are poring over both previous and potential figures.

"no plans to close" means the same as "no plans to have an election".

"no plans to close" means the same as "no plans to have an election".
I remember Michael Edwards being hauled back before a select committee to explain why he had told them that there were no plans for any redundancies at British Leyland and then announced several thousand about a week later. "Oh, we knew we were doing it, of course, but we didn't have the actual plans" was the gist his his response.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Monsoon were never ever part of riverside initial tenants just as superdrug weren't

The Riverside development is a great but I am disappointment as some sectors and partnerships seem to be resting on their laurels with this and it seems there is simply more movement in the town than actually new retail.

With Churchills closing last week and Wallis not renewing their lease as in 10-11months they will be in the new development what of the tonw centre and Guildhall?????

The Guildhalll having just lost Wallis and Churchills will also lose:
Evans
TopShop?
River Island
Vision Express
JD Sport

Adding to the 6 or so units they still have vacant.

Also it seems leaving the town centre for the development is:
New Look
Monsoon (not sure of Accessorize)
Superdrug
Costa Coffee
M& S
As well as the possible new cinema

There was a consultation for the north end a year ago which nothing has been published on what was a 20 year plan (needs to be sooner than that).
Princess Street and some of Salter Street/ Eastgate Street have almost as many to let signs as shops.

new retail at bridge st seem to be primark / H&M/ Outfit / Chiquitos / nandos / and another national chain Deli type of place.

Through in the beautifil patchwork quilt of tarmac in the markey square, disappointing.

Ahem...

Yes, like everyone else I got duped by a knocked up picture with plans showing outlines for stores.

Turns out this was nothing official as the same one was still being used more than 1 year after phones4u for ceased trading. Upon it being suspect I contacted Carl Barrand from LXB who confirmed he was unaware of this. Of course this has already being covered on a later post of mine.

Can't beat a good bit of misinformation can you eh? Good job you corrected it in a later post (somewhere) or you would look a little silly.

er....
At least we know "current" means- "not before Christmas, but we're doing a runner as soon as we can after so our plans will be current then" What a pity, joined September 21st, made two posts trying to confuse the town (and presumably to try and stop the staff looking for new jobs) and then not seen since Sept 28th.

(For those who aren't in the know, they announced closure on Saturday)

There really wasn't any need to deceive us, it just makes you look untrustworthy.

N I hope the sign you put up isn't missing the words "for now" at the end...
