Have it at the Universal. It's about 200 yards from where I'll be living come April. Interestingly enough (dull fact coming up), it's where I had my 21st birthday party. I went as a student.

I'm a fan of there too....that's where Dave McCabe's bday was last year. It's also about 200yds from where i currently live (clambering over the sports field thing as me, The Salstar and a few others did).......bob on!

Righto peeps....diaries out. As per the first post in this thread, there will be a nice big knees up to celebrate a multitude of Forumites' birthdays. Some of them are unfortunate enough to be 30, whereas myself, dirtybobby et al have the pleasure of being 28. Having searched high and low for a suitable place which was willing to cater for such a bunch of reprobates until such a godawful hour, we have managed to secure the upstairs section of The Surgery. Big up to Mr Surgery (and podz) for changing the Drum n Bass night to a different date for this purpose. There will be a proper posting with a nice fancy flyer etc sorted out soon, but this is just to tell you that it's now a certainty, not a maybe. We're still working out whether live bands are a logistic possibility, but there will be a fair number of good ole Ford-based DJs on offer. Regardless of your musical persuasions or opinions on The Surgery, it's our burfdayz, and if you don't come we'll cry.

WATCH THIS SPACE!

edit: and for those of you who can't be arsed to read the start of the thread, it's on Saturday 28th April, and we have the place from 9ish til 3am!! Hunky duckin fory.

andreas, this is stirling news! for some reason i thought the Fancy Dress @ Red was this "multi-birthday" do you were on about (simply because it's at the end of april and is in fancy dress, which has been mentioned before in this thread).. i'm glad it's not, because i wasn't going to make it..

this sounds perfick :D

its gonna be messy in fancy dressy. we need more ideas for said fancy dress theme though dudes...
i assumed fancy dress was off, seeing as it's at the surgery, with bands/DJs and stuff :?:

i'm really not down with this fancy dress idea.. if it goes ahead, i'm afraid i'll be the boring one in the corner who spends the whole night explaining to people why he's not in fancy dress lol..

Naked women, fully clothed men. Always a winner.
this, on the other hand, is an excellent suggestion..

Lol. Not wishing to offend anyone (though i'm sure i will..), you could assume that most of the regular Surgery-goers are actually expecting a fancy dress party.

I hear ya, but it's all down to the concept. I was surprised just how much I enjoyed preparing for the 'Back to the 80s' and 'Dead Legends' parties in Brum, and how much I actually enjoyed the parties. Previously I'd considered to be purely the preserve of the embarrassing Halloween party.

Are you talking about the Halloween party of 2000? Found the pics only the other day, messy. I don't mind fancy dress, in fact it adds an amusing element to the night you don't often get, but there needs to be a good theme. You can't beat the 80s. . .

i guess i could go dressed as robert smith, or morrisey.. i'd fit right in.. although they're both fatter than me these days, which isn't an easy challenge to meet..
