250,000th poster!
Had the best end to a lovely weekend off work, a socially distant dog walk over Stafford Common with my eldest son, his girlfriend and my 2yr old grandson - after 12 whole weeks of not seeing them it was absolutely fantastic.

The only sad part was saying goodbye as they usually stop for tea on a Sunday evening, poor little one must of been very confused as to why he couldn't come into Nanny's house.

Great day though, dog slobber & all. :D
This also reminded us how much we miss having a dog, but being responsible adults (hahaha) we just don't have time... hopefully the grand-dogs will come to visit each time grandson does.

I was mooching around on the Weather Obs site when I had a look at the west coast of Greenland. Mid-summer temperatures as you can see are nothing to write home about. In the 80's I visited the 'Black Angel Mine' on an ore carrier to carry away lead and zinc ore. Did a couple of trips up there in June July as this was the only time of year a big ship could get up there. The mine is roughly where the 't' is in the name Ukkusissat.
Strange experience in the Arctic. Daylight all the time, the Sun just goes around and around in the sky as if it's got lost. Had a look on Google Earth (dated 2015) and was stunned at the ice fall back. We had to get a Danish icebreaker come tug to get us in the first time, and out again. (A word of advice here, never ever go on the piss with the Danish crew of a tug/icebreaker. It's bad for your health.)
Then I found the Youtube video shown below of the mine site in 2017. It looks like they're going to re-open it from closure in the 1990's. When I was there the ice was all over the place.

If you're sceptical about global warming, think again.

Another day spent providing childcare for a teenager, probably the same one again, I suspect...

To be fair, I suspect that the amount of food that he put away, from the stuff I put down to entice him back out through the door, probably meant that he was above safe take-off weight.

Although, it looks like he may have reduced his weight to a small extent - on my nice towel...

Ive just socially distance purchased a car ( pending a test drive on my own  )
could have made do with the one i had but needed a few jobs doing and i cant be arsed ( they offered a decent PX anyway.)

The online side of things was perfect , video link inspection etc) .
Booked in for next weeks viewing (personal 2 hour slot ) and i was assured all covid precautions are in place .
Apparently The car will also be wrapped in plastic after disinfection.

Definitely an different experience to say the least.

Today marked the first time that I have operated my windscreen wipers since mid-March.

I also nearly had to stop at the second red traffic light I've seen since then, but it went green before I could get to it.

I jacked the alternator out a tiny bit more in the morning, as the belt would squeal for the first few seconds every Wednesday for the last couple of months and I managed to remember it at a time when it wasn't actually happening, for once. It didn't squeal on the start-up today.

I also operated the filler flap release cable and unscrewed the cap, as they have also been inoperative for three months.

Skodas are quite nice cars. Our works smoker is a 240000 mile Superb Estate. Not a rattle or squeek to be heard.
It was a toss up between the Focus or the Octavia. Obviously Bob the Focus won, but i'm hoping change him in a couple of years, keeping my options open at the mo.

Škoda is a funny name for a car.

It means something like damage, harm or loss.

As a name, it implies that someone is accident-prone or less than competent.

To je škoda would mean something along the lines of 'that's a pity'...

Sounds like your job pays well matey if you've paid out cash? Good on you. To many people saying their jobs don't pay enough but it sounds like yours is helping you to pay for plenty with some clever accounting on your behalf. Good on you dude.

Thank you.

.... although it's not the most expensive car in the world.
I dont drink myself silly and smoke my money away and learned how to save over the years.

Although I suspect theres a small element of piss taking afoot ?

Forgive me if I'm wrong ;)
