Me too - you were supposed to hold on to the side, float in the water and kick your legs. I was too scared to lift my feet off the bottom so I got told off for that.

I remember lying in bed at night thinking maybe I could keep one foot on the bottom, kick as much as I could with the other leg, and perhaps they wouldn't notice.

Maybe a less regimented approach to teaching would have worked better. Mr Apricot teaches the young apricots to swim by basically taking them to the pool and letting them play around. They get more confident and start to swim.
@Apricot .... read your post about keeping one foot off the bottom after posting I did exactly that. I can still clearly remember those dreaded school swimming lessons to this day (and forging letters off my parents to the teacher , with excuses why I couldn't go swimming today. Not sure the teachers were actually fooled either  )

Fed up of having no EE signal at home this week. They've got engineers working on it, but latest status message ' We are aware there is a problem, but don't know when it will be fixed '

Oh my, I just had the most amazing evening.

We bought the tickets for "Funny Girl" thinking that Sheridan Smith would be taking the lead role....although to be fair we would have bought tickets regardless of the lead because we just adore going to the theatre. (Tonight was my third night at the theatre in 9 days, two of those were girls theatre nights but tonight with hubby)

It turned out that Sheridan Smith wasn't doing Stoke but her original understudy Natasha Barnes was doing it....she was the one who took over in London when Sheridan had her problems last year.

Well, OMG, what a phenomenal night out. I loved it from start to finish, I totally adored every second of it. The orchestra, the music, the backdrop...everything. But Natasha Barnes blew me away.

Standing ovation at the end for her...brilliant. A star in the making.

Happy happy me.

Wishing if things are working and plodding along ok , that people wouldn't try to fix them....

Original message from EE over a week ago..'Our engineers are carrying out planned maintenance work near st17 *** It should be back to normal within 5 hours '

After having completely no signal at home since then, daily messages..... ' Unfortunately the resolution time is currently unknown. We’ll continue to keep you updated. '

Latest today, with still no signal at all ... 'The problem at st17*** is taking our engineers longer than expected to fix. We’re still working on it and will let you know when it’s fixed.'

At least before they started messing I could get at least some signal somewhere in the house , even if it did sometimes mean hanging out of the upstairs window !

Now got sod all

Back to a normal routine today, my last few days have been occupied running back and forth to Cannock hospital as Dad was in for his second hip operation. He was allowed out yesterday  Today looks like I need to do some lawn cutting as the Rabbits have almost disappeared under the long grass.:lorks:

Just saved myself £74.10 on my car insurance automatic renewal quote. Put it all in as a new quote on-line, and rang them to find out why that had come up a hell of a lot cheaper on their own website.....she checked that it matched exactly with my existing policy and has even undercut the online quote for me . Worth a few minutes questioning it, rather than accepting the automatic renewal ;)

Been standing down the bottom of the garden in my pyjamas, attracting attention shouting loudly down the phone:embarrass:
The slight signal I got outside the door disappeared as soon as the doctors receptionist finally answered the phone.I could hear her , but she couldn't hear me
