Watched the news tonight and thought to myself: "What a bunch we are, the human race in general."
Then I looked at this picture again and hoped it would give me a better perspective of things:

I don't think it provides a very good perspective on distances though.

I've always thought Carl Sagan got it right. The photo was taken, on 14 February 1990, by Voyager 1 and picks out the Earth, caught in a sunbeam, from a distance of approximately 6 billion kilometres (3.7 billion miles). But it was more than just the photo. Carl had a way with words and a gift for telling stories, and it is his famous quote that sets the scene and puts humanity into perspective and context.

I've always believed everyone should read this quote (it is hung on my wall at home). If you'd rather listen to it, spoken by Carl, its here.

We shall look more like the witches in Hocus Pocus then those that conjoured up Jack Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick.
I of course, being the Bette Midler one, the eldest is Kathy Najimy and younger sister is Sarah Jessica Parker, tho looking more like Julia Roberts as she was in Pretty Woman.(The bitch)
There may be bloodshed, Possibly a murder, big un and myself cannot be in the same postal district as one another without World War 3 threatening to break out.

I just know what it's going entail. She gets in the car, has a fiddle with my radio, cos she doesn't like the station, when I turn it back to what I was listening to - ''oooh you're such a sharp shit you!!''
We drive to little uns in silence, have a cuppa, then all pile into my car to go Drayton. She has another fiddle with the radio to find something she can sing along to and kill. Oh yeah, I'm really looking forward to it.
