A bit spooked... :mystery:

Rather than leave it lying in a drawer, took my mum's old watch to Sliwinskis yesterday, had a battery put in and it started ticking nicely away.

Today it stopped ...

The wall clock in the hall, that I'd also brought from my parents during the house clearance, had stopped today as well ...exactly the same time as the watch ....OOoo-err

The watch is back working just fine again...... The clock started working again before I changed the battery in that as well. Think I'll wait til hubby's with me to check on the empty house again

@Goldilox got me a supply of vacuum pipes tonight.

Service Station Coffee was played in the local pub here and it prompted me to enquire of the landlord if he had any off-cuts of wire-wound guitar strings - these are a great resource for replicating vacuum pipes on model locomotives.

Get rid of it. They even have a removal tool for doing so.
Turns out McAfee isn't keen on being un-installed! Taking absolutely ages( think its hoping I'll get fed up and keep it).

Son decided to get rid whilst sorting everything else out for me remotely , and giving me tuition on using the ' evil monster' laptop .
Got a bit better idea of what I'm doing on it....but ..back on my phone .Less stressful !

The removal tools are generally very slow for some reason. God knows what they do

At least I've got used to getting the battery out! Had a black screen twice today, then a locked screen. Good job I've got my phone to google solutions .(And son with his remote program to take over from 60 miles away! ) McAfee's gone now, just checked and windows defender says I'm protected, so hopefully it will start behaving itself

Had a play around , while I can remember what I was taught earlier , and managed to not kill it off again so far......switching off while all is well ......decided it's a very needed cider time! :pint:to finally celebrate all the house contracts being exchanged ok today ,

Thank you everyone. It's so very hard and i keep finding little reminders so bang it hits again like a truck. Pippa was herself a rescue so i think we'll try and do that again, but not till we can think of another without bursting into tears. I can't imagine the poor things reaction on a new home but everyone just cries at them. We will definitely be having another as even with the cats the house is half empty. Nothing could ever replace her but we need to fill a doggy shaped hole.

I can happily report that i have now experienced Influenza twice in my life.

I can further confirm that it has not got any more pleasant in the intervening two decades since the last visitation.

It feels like a pig shat in your head.

The day you lost yours would have been George, my little bichon crosses birthday, it is sadly still hard and difficult when that or memorable days come round. We have Minnie (awesome shihtzu pictured) and without her the loss of our other dog would have been a lot harder. It does get easier, these furry things are such an integral part of our lives its like walking around with only one sock on.

Motorised home parked in the street ready for a weekend in Ashbourne. The site that we are staying on this time is a short walk from the town, stayed closed to Ashbourne and driven through many many times but this will be the first time its walkable. Looking forward to it.

@staffordjas - the old laptop fault will be one of two things. The first is caused by overheated graphics chip, which really would mean it's "game over", but the second cause can be simply bad memory seating.... in which case it's a 2 minute fix (literally).

If the new laptop is driving you that crazy, there's possibly an option to have it re-installed with Windows 7 which many of my elderly customers request when buying new laptops, but if you can continue to adjust to using Windows 10 it's for the better really.

Well just in random conversation with Eldest Spawn (her new full title is Eldest Spawn, Mother of Spud (so named after his Mum's love for potatoes during her pregnancy) ) she asked what Mixed British means. I explain and a look of confusion comes across her face. She asks how it works, I explain again. She looks very very confused and finally asks how Spud could be classed as Mixed British? He can't i say, so why is it all over his notes, sticks and paperwork from the hospital then she says. Oh, and who's (possibly Asian blokes name) and what's that doing on there? Erm show me I say. They've only changed Spud's Dad and race on all of his paperwork, stickers notes etc including the paperwork they need to give the registrar to register Spud. Somewhere out there there could be a poor girl trying to explain to her chap who this other bloke is that is the named Father on her paperwork. She has her MW coming today, hopefully she can help sort this mess out.
