That sounds terrible.

Is this documented on the discharge papers as well? If not it may not matter for registering the birth, obviously it does from a personal perspective though!!

From a very distant memory I only took the hospital discharge papers, our birth certificates, wedding certificate and proof of address but things may have changed as it was more than 30 years ago.

I'm sorry, not helpful at all I know and I know I shouldn't but that me laugh out loud.

O.K MW has been and explained. I'm not really convinced but we are going to have to take her word for it. The random Asian bloke the mw insists is Eldest Spawn's g.p. Eldest Spawn says she's never heard or nor met him and he is never offered as an appt. The ethnicity thing the mw reckons is just part of a whole selection that they just didn't have room for. it sounds like a very strange and complicated an confusing way of doing things. either way she says it shouldn't impact on anything.
i have decided that i am getting old as everything is so much more complicated apparently now than it was.
It's ok, I laughed too as well as being confused.

@staffordjas - the old laptop fault will be one of two things. The first is caused by overheated graphics chip, which really would mean it's "game over", but the second cause can be simply bad memory seating.... in which case it's a 2 minute fix (literally).

If the new laptop is driving you that crazy, there's possibly an option to have it re-installed with Windows 7 which many of my elderly customers request when buying new laptops, but if you can continue to adjust to using Windows 10 it's for the better really.

Thanks @wmrcomputers . The old laptop was really dragging it's feet in those last few weeks it was alive. When it gave up the ghost altogether, it wasn't even doing it's usual whirring away when switching it on (If I hadn't had a few ciders, I'd have realised that in the first place whilst trying to find a spare screen to see if it was just the screen that had gone....)

Was going to give you a call to help set me up when I first got the new laptop, but son took it over from his end with 'Teamviewer' and got everything installed.

Now he's given me some instruction on this Windows 10 last night I'm getting a bit better at it .... tested his patience last night though, good job he was doing it from miles away :D Running a hell of a lot quicker since he knocked McAfee off as well, thought it was strange a new laptop was going so slow!

That does sound rather odd and confusing @Gadget . Think I'd ask someone else as well, just to make sure MW really does know what she's talking about! (Maybe the person typing the details in was like me on the computer......When son eventually took my laptop over and looked at my settings, he was confused why I'd entered my language as ' Africaan' . I couldn't get it to scroll down the page off that :lol: )

Never know what I've pressed ....I keep automatically going for a number pad that doesn't exist on this one !

Got my roster through this week to see what shifts/performances I’m covering at the Gatehouse/Met in my volunteering role as front of house.

It’s a bit exciting to see if I’ve got the shows that I really wanted to see.

In my other life years ago when I worked for BA I also got excited on roster day to see which flights and destinations I’d been rostered.

Years ago......opening roster for the month ahead “Yeah, ... Dubai, Hong Kong, LA, Cape Town, Rio, great roster”

Now.....opening roster “Yeah, Grumpy old women, All shook up, Beyond The Barricade, Kevin Bridges, great roster”


Lordy, how times have changed.

I’m struggling now to work out what made me take voluntary severance and leave a job that paid me to travel the world for free, stay in 5 star hotels, and live the life of riley.

So the clocks go forward overnight, however I'm mindful that in a little over 12 weeks the nights start drawing in. Ah well that's another year over, bring on 2019 !......

Walked 2 hours to Brocton, steep climbs over the chase, and back home pacing it all the way. Then a killer Spanish aerobic dvd for another half an hour. Those scales had better look good in the morning!
