Realise how true the saying ' it's a small world' is..
Come all this way to Devon and through making as fuss of many doggies, get chatting a few nights with a bloke from Brocton .
Also a bloke who moved down here 40 years ago. Turns out my dad used to be his maths teacher in Great Wyrley and Cheslyn Hay high schools when he was a kid.
Last week I randomly met a girl I used to babysit for, last night I met one that lives in my old house, both in the same pub. Gotta love Stafford!

Think he may have moved to Cheslyn Hay by that time @Gadget. ,(Mr Smith, head of maths)
Can't think what year he moved at the moment....many ciders and San Miguels been enjoyed tonight..

Wyrley was his first school and he loved all the kids there and they loved him, even though he was strict . Lots still kept in touch until he died a couple of years ago.
He used to organise ' The Wyrley Plod' a 30 mile walk which took place for several years. Me and my mate did it twice as well.
I did know a Mr Smith but I'm not sure if it would have been the same one. I remember the school doing an extremely long walk across the chase each year. I did that a few times.
Best way to go to Wyrley.
I quite enjoyed my time at the school although 'technically' I should have gone to Cheslyn Hay High. I was a *good girl you see and the teachers liked me.
A 30 mile walk followed by the wrongful imprisonment of an immigrant?
Ah, the Wyrley Ripper. We did a whole term in history learning about the case. We all came to the conclusion that it was a terrible misjustice and poor George was just a scapegoat. Don't get me started on the Arthur and George programme. I spent all of it yelling at the screen 'that looks nothing like Gt Wyrley!!'

*I rebelled in my 20's and had far more fun, ahem...

Fantastic journey up from Ilfracombe to Worcester for a few more days holidaying.
Visited sons house whilst waiting for check- in time at the hotel.

Couldn't resist getting stuck in with the housework. I can't just sit there relaxing with a cuppa when I can see a sink full of pots and pans ( most belonging to his house mates) .They won' t be able to find anything later :D

Got dragged away by hubby before I could attack the fridge....

Off for a swim to cool down before heading out to treat son to a meal out tonight .
Might even join him and his mates later and make a proper good night of it...

Stayed out as long as we could but ,with hubby ready for bed , just had to leave the comfort of air conditioned pubs and return to our sauna of a hotel room. No aircon, one small window which opens 2" and a small desk fan which is just circulating the hot air . :o

Just received my pet insurance renewal letter from Direct Line and they want £127.24 a month for two elderly staffies!!!

I thought I would do a quick online comparison and found a similar policy for a lot cheaper price.

Upon calling them to query the price I was advised that existing conditions wouldn't be taken into account and that the online quote I had would be for a new introduction price.

After pointing out the new quote was from Direct Line's own website I now have a new quotation for £10 less than this year's policy and all existing conditions are covered. Still expensive at £90 a month but at least the dogs are fully covered if they need any operations or treatments.

It sounds expensive but so long as it will cover existing conditions its pretty good value.

My dog needed an MRI scan and had to go to a specialist surgeon at castle donnington ... cost of MRI and consultation £2000.
...if he had needed an operation then a further £2,500.

.... just wish i'd had the insurance at the time , lesson learned .

Always always always get pet insurance.

My aunt's insurance has maxed out and her dog's got a tumour, so that's been a fun few months of expenditure for her :(

Boo's medication for arthritis is nearly as much as the insurance per month so I'll get that back until it is maxed out later in the year.

At their age they're bound to need more treatment at some stage and the insurance means they'll get whatever they need to make their lives easier.
