New McDonalds/Drive thru planned for the Hough Retail Park - not happy

Well if its the wooded area it won't get planning.
to my knowledge the council are not obliged to inform residence by way of a leaflet drop or knocking on doors, where is the resource for that? But they will put the planning notice. If anyone needs to do due diligence it would be the developer but I am not sure for a scheme like this on a retail park.

It's not the wooded area, the plans clearly show it next to argos. They wouldn't get planning on the wooded area as I believe half is in a conservation area and the other bit was turned down for a car dealership recently. The same reasons for refusal would apply to a drive through. If anyone is interested search the planning portal for Hough and you will see why it was refused in the associated documents. But I don't think any of the issues would apply next to argos.

Does anybody know why they would put in the sign application before the actual building?

I would have preferred something else to add a little variety but I guess it's better than nothing.
Totally agree, something different would have been more preferable, oh well. As for notifying residents, it seems it's sufficient to just stick a notice on a lamp post in the area nowadays

I'm assuming they don't need to notify residences as it's on private property - and since it won't be serving booze etc. I really can't see that it will do that much to the traffic in all honesty - the traffic management onto the Hough actually works quite well and I suspect it will do a bit of re balancing traffic from one side of town to the other.

You can complain all you want about McDonalds food etc (and if that's the case, don't eat it) but I know lots of people have benefited from a job there at one time or another and we should be glad of any new investment in our town that generates jobs, especially flexible ones that don't require massive of training etc. It also means I'll have somewhere to grab an alright coffee on my way from my house to the train station / on the way home.

You should get a letter about any planning application that is within a certain distance of your house. It doesn't matter who makes the application or who owns the land. I only mentioned it as I found it odd we didn't have one when we have for other things on that retail park. The other application I referenced I know others have had letters but our bit of the street has been missed out for some reason.

Well I'm not complaining, it'll save me having to go to the other side of town, just that it would be nice to attract someone else, we've got 2 McDonalds already.

If a third McDonalds restaurant is something the town should be grateful for then Stafford has hit rock bottom

Its gonna be awesome. Just think of all those numpty boy racers who gather at mcdonalds nationwide, all the litter, the noise bad language at the rats, seaguls and pidgeons. You lucky, lucky baastards. Whate i would give for a mcdonalds on my estate!

Can't fathom the need myself, not like its nice food. If I was in that area and desperate I'd think about KFC, then leave regardless.

The Wimpy kiosk that's like 2 miles away ? Or is there a secret one still in Stafford that has been hidden from me ?

There was once a Wimpy kiosk where Casa is now - and a Wimpy café at the back of Woolworths - probably where the Bap Shop is now.

Yeah one of my former flatmates used to work there whilst we were at Uni many a year ago.

Poor chap tried his hardest to get fired (his own personal morals meant he refused to quit, despite all logic) to no avail, as they knew they couldn't replace weekend night staff.
