New to Stafford

Hi all, I'm new to Stafford (moved here from Penkridge a month ago) and need some direction.

I live just off J14, Trinity Fields and would like your recommendations for the following: chip shop, chinese barbers and any other local treats!

I have tried Parkside chip shop and thought it was average. I am thinking of using Northern Lights as its quite close and seems to get good reviews. I'd also be interested to try Ye Olde Chip Shop.
Trinity Fields fish bar is the closest to me, but as I can't see it mentioned on the forum anywhere, i guess its not that good??

I think my local Chinese is the Mandarin House on Parkside, but I don't mind venturing a little further if there is a better one. Also delivery would be just gravy

Last, i'm in need of a hair cut, so need a decent barbers, am thinking of using the one in town by the co-op as that gets good reviews. There is one close to me on the Holmcroft Road, think its called Phase 2, any good?

Plus, anyone close to the area know of any gems near by, I heard there was a bakery that was good for example.

Many thanks in advance!!

Hi rudie111, welcome to Stafford Forum. :)

Whilst I admire your enthusiasm, perhaps have a little look around first. All your questions and more have already been answered!

Chinese takeaways
Barbers

Although that last one might need updating a bit!

Have fun, hope you enjoy the place! :P

Hey rudie welcome to the forum!

As for a chip shop, it's a little out of your way but Chris Fish Bar in Rising Brook (click for info) is very highy rated also.

As for local treats, well the Pie & Ale house is definitely worth a visit, great food, fantastic ale/cider, a lovely environment and very keenly priced. Highly recommended.

Have fun finding more local treats!

Above 'Irish Embassy' in the London telephone directory, it used to list 'Irish Dentist' - I often wondered what that was all about...

A happy ending would be nice, used to get that kind of service in Penkridge but Melvin's hands were a bit rough

I've tried Ye Olde Chippie Shoppe and thought it was pretty good. Better than my other local at the time, Fish bar 2000 anyway.

For a curry I do enjoy Karma II but they don't do delivery.

The Chinese we use for deliveries is New Manley House. We just picked a menu at random from the pile that has arrived on our doorstep one day and ended up very pleased when I discovered that 'duck fried rice' means an entire crispy duck breast in a portion of fried rice.

Sorry that none of these are up J14 way...

I'll give you a mohawk for a fiver - if you don't like it I'll do the rest for an extra £2.
