Hey Hey and a good morning to y'all!

I've been lurking in the darkness of the forum for a while.. and today is the day I have decided to take the plunge and become a Stafford Forum newbie! :toot:

And how oh so proud of that I am..

I was born in Stafford and grew up in the village of Gnosall. I attended a high school in Stafford and spent most of my time here ever since!

welcome, newbs! try not to be scared off by all the guardian-reading, tofu-eating, tree-hugging, obscure-post-making hippies round here - most of us are normal :teef:

Hi, just joined the forum and looking for some local knowledge/ advice - I am relocating to Stafford area soon for work reasons and looking at renting in Stafford but no idea where is good versus not so good. Ideally I would like to be close to rail station, shops and pubs. All feedback would be very welcome.

The slum area is Rowley Park and the red light area is Burton Manor

Doxey will probably be out of your price range as its full of Premiership footballers

Maybe

This is close to the station - here - and one can expect rented places to be available regularly - although the immediately adjacent pub is now shut. There are plans to open another very close in the future, though. However, the town centre is not far.

You will soon learn how to cope with Mr Marwood.

Thank you. Really helpful - is the town centre an option although Parking may be an issue! Is Doxey nearby?

Doxey is here.

You can't be more than a couple of miles / half an hour's walk from the centre anywhere in Stafford - except, maybe, some of the very peripheral zones..

I believe that useful phrase books may be available from the Tourist Information Centre, next to the Library.
