No 7, Market Square.

Mmm, Tracey seems to have read "retain vehicular access at all times" to be "severely restrict emergency vehicle access".

I've never seen an emergency vehicle use that access route, in either direction.

I've been here forty years and never seen anything go up there since the pedestrianisation - Tracey will, no doubt, have access to loads of contradictory CCTV evidence, no doubt.

The bit about emergency service vehicles is bollocks. The bit about problems when the market is pushing it, but arguable. So simply impose a condition that they can't have outdoor seating on a day when there is a market there.

Seems they aren't in favour with our wonderfully inept police force. After the meeting we'll know if they're in favour with our spectacularly inept councillors.

It's none of my direct business, but the police objection is barely even laughable. I would find it difficult not to just take the piss out of them. There is just as much "obstruction" to the non-existent vehicles from the Market Vaults' smokers.

If you can get to be a sergeant with that sort of approach, then I might have a go myself.

You have common sense and experience of life, you'd never do as plod.

Sorry if I've upset you with that comment...

Not here, anyway.

An officer in a different jurisdiction once told me "I don't mind people breaking the law, if they're doing nothing wrong" and "Never tell him anything you don't want me to know" - I've often wondered quite what he was getting at with the latter one...

He also tried, and failed, to hand in a film that he had taken in London in the vicinity of the scene of the Docklands bomb, in the hours before it went off - he had used fill-in flash, so he knew that number plates would be clear - he even had a one-hour process to get the pictures developed and be able to hand them in before his flight back home. The Met coppers treated him like he was the sort of idiot that they were.

It would be very nice to have some seats outside the front of No.7. It will make the area more vibrant and safer at night when nothing is going on in market square. Hopefully, a compromise can be made where some seats can be provided outside the front but not as many as 20.

I find the comments from Tracey to be ridiculous. She claims that the road is used as an emergency access, however in one of her own photos there is sign saying 'Road Closed'....woops! Did no one tell SBC and the contractors that access is required at ALL times. She also fails to mention the benefits of visible natural surveillance over the area, which there would be if some outside seating was provided.

Who'd of thought of it - responsible drinkers outside of a pub helping to prevent crime by being visible to would be offenders!

That copper is one hell of a nobber, the place closes at 9:30 FFS how many pissed up people will there be?

As for the road that needs access at all times but was closed for council use at the time of the photos.....

Ah, it's not Planning, it's Licensing, it's page 4 of Joshua's link.

I saw that plan months ago, before the bar even opened, yet she claims she had to ask for it? I guess she's a sergeant not a detective!

EDIT: Can we voice our opinions over a licensing application?
