Nostalgia - What are your memories of Stafford?

Me too, looks like 'they' are going to flatten it though, given the boarding. Such a shame :(

They have been preparing it for a couple of weeks now, go past on the way too my new job, on Parkside! Perhaps they are going to do something like they have opposite; Springfields, 214-216 Stone Road. Once did a night shift there when it was a care home, went to the house opposite later, when I was a Social Work Assistant! Now see it on may way to my job as a Support Worker for two folks with Learning Difficulties (LD).:strange: Who were Springfields residents? Adults with LD :strange: :strange: :strange:

(20 years and they are still letting the fecker loose! :ohno: Will they never learn? I've seen the Tele! At least he couldn't do much damage in the Fire Brigade! Apart from fires, floods, industrial accidents, chemical spills, traffic collisions Ed)

I was trying to find that thread the other day to say much the same thing - they have been digging up the hedges and trees around the perimeter for several days. I'm pretty sure someone must be developing the place to give me as a present as they have read on here how much I love that house :)

I quoted to do some tree work there when it was sold a few years ago. The proposals at the time were for a corner apartment block. It's stood empty since that day.

Memories...

Fergies (and Annabelles) that later became KFC, they used to hold the SPACE scheme fancy dress contest there, and Nappy Nights at the collosseum on a sunday

Smoking a joint in the park on lunch break from Castle Works

Cant believe nobody has mentioned Russian Rob and his coconuts..

watch closely......

And playing in the urine drenched pillbox on wildwood fields that got bulldozed for the new estate, also remember the 'stock pond' before it became a 'nature reserve'

Wildwood woods... dead mans drop, the swamps, the huge metal container (in that bit of wasteland we used to call the tip?) and the BMX track.. oh and the other now derelict BMX track on what is now wildwood park, I remember when they had first built the crazy golf, activity course in the hills, and the basketball wall and the proper park with the firemans poles. Also remember the construction of white oaks and larchwood, playing in the huge concrete utilities pipes that were about to be laid

Kwik save, when you used to be able to walk round the side way past the coolers, and somebody had sprayed "suck tits baby" that remained for years

Bus into the market square, and the saturday Labour Club discos run by ernie till and some bloke called Kev, there was always a guy called Funky Phil doing the disco, when I say disco I mean a ghettoblaster and a set of them cheap chasers from maplins.

Anyone know what's happening to the old house on the corner of Stone Rd and Holmcroft Rd? This morning there were men boarding the perimeter of the garden with the type of boards used by commercial developers...
I saw this today and the students that I was visiting commented on how intimidating the giant black fence looked. I was reminded of the Outlaws' house, which was nearly opposite where they are living and I don't think that they really believed me about what it was like. I have been unable to find any pictures of it - anybody got any ideas..?

I thought the Outlaws house was on the same side of the road but further down nearer to the post office and co-op. Bright yellow and black? No pics unfortunately.

I was on the way back from Stoke Rugby Club with my dad the night that the gun fight happened. We stopped at the chippy about 10 mins before it kicked off, and it turned out the woman they held hostage (allegedly) was the wife of one of my teachers.

A few years later my friend rented one of the rooms in the house, once it had been renovated. Intriguing to think what might have gone on in there over the years before!

There was a house on Corporation Street where all the woodwork was done in BT yellow - he was a stalwart of the canoe club, if people know who I mean..
