Nostalgia - What are your memories of Stafford?

Great picture again, Withnail. What I find striking is the traffic lights outside McDonald's (why?) and the 'To Let' sign, too. The picture looks circa early 80s and I know that Mc came to Stafford 82 / 83ish, so I'm wondering if it was when they'd just moved in?
Traffic lights are a Pelican Crossing.

What's going on with the handlebars of our red trousered Gentleman?

Riser-lower bars? Man, the 70's were a confusing age.

P.S. The ^above is almost certainly from 1985 - possibly '84 but definitely not earlier.

Blimey that's really taking me back, the town had more going for it then I don't understand how in this day and age it can be getting worse and not better!

I used to work in Anne Giles hair dressers after school and weekends which was aross the road from that cafe around 1971/1972. (Gosh, I feel ancient now!) Can't for the life of me think what the cafe was called then. The hairdressers used to be above a butchers and had to go through the butchers shop to take our rubbish to the bins at the back of the shop.,

Couldn't imagine them allowing that now
