Its a brilliant idea,it could be photographed all round town, bit like folk do when they pinch peoples garden gnomes?! I did think that pics could be posted up here on the Forum, but Pete might pop in and guess who the thief is.
He always used say on a wednesday evening - it's my pub, my quiz,if you don't like it ,you can piss off!

I've just heard on the BBC news that the Occupy Wall Street thing is spreading worldwide today but they didn't mention the Spit

Is it still on?

Thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread; amusing to see the directions you've taken it.

I've had no internet access since Tuesday, so apologies for appearing elusive.

I have spoken to Pete at The Spit and he has expressed some concern about a political meeting taking place at his pub; He has asserted that the pub is politically neutral and he can not therefore support any activity that may manifest as a political agenda. He is however, supportive of like-minded people coming together for peaceful debate and discussion over a drink!

I will be there this afternoon as planned, all being well.

Peace
G

I wish you luck with your get together and might pop in if I'm in the area, this afternoon.

Please be aware that Pete has thrown people out for mass debating in his pub before :)

Update:

Running a bit late as I've just had a visit from two very nice policemen from Staffs Const; had a good, long chat. Reassuring to know that if I WERE a terrorist, the public order is protected by intelligence and the police have responded appropriately.

Just getting on my bike now.
PEACE people

Seems to be kicking off around the world, just as the so called arab spring was inspired by internet networks the occupy demonstrations are being inspired by the media and the net.
Whilst I respect their right to protest peacefully and the jist of opposition to the excesses of the fat cats, I do worry it is the usual suspects who will be at the forefront of the protest. These are the type who I used to see back in the 80s selling socialist worker when quite clearly coming from middle class backgrounds and never doing a hard days toil in their lives.
I might be wrong and we do stand on edge of economic and social diasater, but I don't sense that as when I went into Stafford this morning it was quite busy with people getting on wih their lives. In our factory we continue to be busy and have taken on a number of new workers this year and whilst we expect it quieten off during the winter as it normally does, the new year should be a good one with increased exports and employment.
I know things are tough for many people but I believe we are on an upwards curve even though it doesn't feel like it and there will be a long haul back to better times.

You are being shafted, ever so slowly, up your ring piece by the invisible politician's puppeteers, and waving cardboard about in a public or private place will do nothing to stop the suffocation

The problem is that an economic system predicated on ever increasing consumption (growth) is a) bonkers and b) unsustainable, as demonstrated over the past few years...

Most of our growth in exports is coming from the the developing countries ie India,Russia,Brazil ,China etc and it is quite evident that there is going to be a shift of power to theses nations, what the developed nations need to do is come to terms with this transition of power and companys should expliot the emerging markets.
What both JCB and Jaguar Land Rover prove is that this country can compete with the world and sucsessfully sell good quality products and make this country prospr[erous again.

It is illegal for more than two people to wear masks in one place

If that place is New York
