Although I admit the Cameo version of this song is the best …. I do sort of like this cover version, which unlike many others, doesn't try to copy the original but gives its own style to the song.

Always thought this song (and its many cover versions) was much deeper the more you listened to it. Very distinctive both musically and lyrically …

I was in Cyprus then and remember some well-known DJ declaring on BFBS that "They will be bigger than the Beatles!"

I remember thinking "You'll regret saying that..."

Unfortunately, I can't remember who it was.

Judy Collins again I know … but … she is good. This is an old whaling song, which she decided to back with recorded whale song. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly no advocate of whaling, the supreme lifeform of the seas, now and past. But those old whalers did it the hard way, from small boats, and put their lives on the line to do it. No technology in their day.

I haven't heard this since 1968, I doubt the series has been repeated at all since - a lot of it is what they term as 'lost', I understand.

As soon as it popped up in the You Tube suggestions, I could remember it - and Danny Scipio - and the scene with the stiletto stabbing...
