Spouting nonsense since the day I learned to talk
Thanks. Unfortunately I didn't use any filters, especially not the alcohol one!

It was a case of suddenly seeing the orangey light outside, grabbing my camera, climbing on the garage roof and taking some shots.

I don't want to create a new thread just for this request, but can anyone recommend a particular model of scanner they know creates decent digital outputs for both print and slides, please? I've looked on lots of sites and there's dozens, if not hundreds to choose from. The thing is, once I've done my scanning, I'm not going to want it for anything else, so either it needs to be reasonably cheap, or one that has good resale value. As usual, your advice, will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I can't help on the scanner, but you will get much better scans from any scanner if you use Vuescan software to get your scans.
It will do 2400 dpi, scan more than once, Tiff scans, and lots more to improve the scans.

I agree, Vuescan is the best scanning software that I have come across and it is far better than anything that is bundled with scanners. I have used it for a number of years now and it has worked with every scanner I have tried to use with it. It happily links with scanners/multipurpose printers over a wireless network. Not free, standard edition is $40 and professional edition $80 but worth every penny

I ♥ cryptic crosswords
What if you took pictures of your pictures , isn't that the same as scanning them :/

With a Marco lens?

Hurrah!!! Success!!

Anyways, after all that! Photo taken on Sunday near Brocton, sun setting behind the trees - pretty much the last shot of the afternoon.

Canon EOS 70D
1/200th - f/11 - ISO 100
Handheld using my (not especially brilliant) Sigma 70-300mm lens at 70mm

Very little post processing, just a small levels tweak and I cloned out a stray branch from the neighbouring tree which was annoyingly caught in the right hand edge of the shot
