oh my god , what i was thinking about was the media talk about obese kids and the rest ,and i thought that if there was more open spaces that is easily accessible and safe then maybe families could be encouraged to use them .as for suing ,i do see a lot of the older generation over there and would hate to think they may fall due to it being uneven in places.. may be i am sad and deluded , pass me the tablets!

Have you met kids nowadays? Believe me, they aint obese cos they have nowhere to go, they're obese because they have too much to do sat on their asses to ever want to venture outside. Plus the big bad paedophiles that the meedya insist are around every corner convince parents that letting them sit on their xbox all day eating crisps is a better option.

Old people on the other hand, yes them I think should be catered for. If only cos I may be one someday.

EDIT: God I'm argumentative today! GRR!

I understand what you are saying here and I don't think anyone disagrees, but these things are all exceptionally expensive (although I think the inflate the costs for the benefit of the media so it looks like they are strapped for cash) and there are only a limited amount of resources available.

Unfortunately this council is obsessed with traffic, or rather disrupting it, with ever increasingly expensive methods. All of the budget goes on pointless ideas (ike replacing the recreation centre with a smaller one and wondering why it is already at capacity).

Don't be so defensive either, no one is having a go, you posted a subject which stimulated thought and discussion (which is more than my thread about my bacon and sausage sarnie did!) and thats a good thing.

Welcome to the forum by the way :stafford:

There must be a fortune to be made connecting an xbox to a dynamo charged by an exercise bike. Junior has an hour on the exercise bike and it charges up the xbox to play for an hour. No fat kids, parents get to keep them Away From The Big Wide Scary World And All The Horrors Therein... it's perfect.
I'm calling it the Xercisebox.

Terribly sorry; I forgot to say Welcome to Sandonia. The bar's over there, someone'll be along in a minute to get you a drink... :)
(I've got tonsillitis, that's my excuse :( )

Nice discussion!!

I love the thought of the XerciseBox... if only I could rig the kids PC up so that it would only turn on if their beds were all made etc. Now that would be sweet!!!!

Back to the thread though, I can see the point in some ways, and it certainly does seem daft to start a job and never finish it. There is actually a common term used for this kind of strategy... they call it S T A F F O R D. ;)

Am i also right to think that a good few years back they started to build a the new Stafford Bypass linking Jnc 13 to 14 - commencing by the new fire station?? I heard that they laid the first hundred or so yards of Tarmac and then decided that would do the trick. Could be rumours I don't know.

I liked the comment in this thread about the new leisure centre by the way. I find it fascinating that they left the OLD site partly due to flooding issues and built the NEW one, erm... funnily enough on a road which also can flood! WISE MOVE!!
I don't know why they didn't just build some walls around a chunk of the Sow and charge kids to swim in the river :) :) :)

WELCOME TO THE FORUM SANDONIA!

Tha's our local park, and yes they re-touched the area last yr, but it just stopped. Mid-flow. Pathway starts.....then rubble up to the play area. Bizarre. More concerning is the burnt out remains of the pub (can't remember name) at last look it was a serious danger zone. Which reminds me, the vacant old park on Westway Highfields, literally stood empty for 15+ years now, beautiful waste of space.
The park on the West Way was taken down when the playing areas at Rowley Park were updated and modernised. The area where the park was was supposed to be modernised with something different and a new play area situated by the West Way pub, this was vetoed by some locals and now the area is used as a seating area for the elderly residents aka a waste of space

are you kidding?? it's been sold out everywhere since its release.. i know two people who are still trying to get hold of one and just can't lay their hands on 'em.. and one of those people works at argos, so they can constantly monitor the stock levels!

i haven't got one myself - i'm way too fat & lazy to see the appeal - but to say it "died a death" is just daft..
