Patch on a function to automatically forward it to the recipient's email address if their PM box is full, and it'll be fine. :)
Or even an option on the PM inbox to forward it to ourselves by email.

any chance we could get an increase on the 10 limit please admin, You may of noticed i am trying to help people out on here without any money values in mind, with that in mind 10 can be easily sucked up without even reading etc, just 15 would swing it i feel, Don't feel i have been anything other than trying to be helpful on here to be fair and it is the only thing i have asked for from you admin,

Just to back up gdavies, 20 would be a better a figure and (I doubt) wouldn't put much strain on the system. ;)

If that message could have a flashing yellow or red background, it would certainly help! Although I do make a habit of keeping a look for the message. As gdavies has said, sometimes for me 10 just doesn't cut it. I delete others to make space for new, then when somebody gets back to me again I can't remember what their initial problem was. lol

to state what WMR has pointed out today alone i have over 10 messages in one hit, therefore i have had to get rid of some in the hope they still come through, seriously next year i aim to do alot for chairty and with 10 as an inbox on here i will get above 10 at a time i am confident, if admin would like o just up set people's level then fine by me i feel at least 15 would do but with other peoples problms can we all have 20 please or at least all the people tht complain lol, if you want me to pay to get a higher number for messages then tell me the amount i may well be willing to pay

Hi Admin. I must say, I agree with all the above from todays posts. More prominent message indicator and more room for messages please. :D

Please read the thread from the start, all these questions (and more) have been answered at length. Specifically:

I said:
If something is that important, you should be communicating via a dedicated medium (e.g. email).

The platform that Stafford Forum runs on, PunBB, doesn't actually support Private Messaging, I had to hack that functionality in. That is why it is a bit wonky, and not as intuitive as one might hope ... This is unavoidable, but as I say you shouldn't be using it for anything important anyway! :)
Stafford Forum is designed for public discussion, if you wish to connect to a person privately please use a suitable medium (e.g. Facebook, email, phone, text, etc.).

Despite this, I have succumbed and doubled the PM limit for everyone. Please bear all of the above in mind, though - there are much more suitable means of communication that you should use for discussion away from The Forum.

Thanks.

we've got forums, twitter, facebook, webcams, faxes, mobiles, texts etc. The trouble is people just don't talk anymore........

This all looks a bit too democratic for my liking.

Surely the result should be something that a) no one wants and b) wasn't originally on the table.

We're lucky we haven't ended up with a 3 message limit!

Who's going to be the first to get an 'empty your box' post with the new limits? I know who my money would be on...

I appreciate this admin. Thanks

Taken on board too what you have said. I agree there are better ways to communicate.
I have my email address linked to my profile, but because PMing is there, people are choosing that instead bu I would actually RATHER they email me. Because the functionality of PM is there, you have to try to provide a reasonable service level for that. If not, then it's better that it not be there at all - if you catch my drift. At least then people would be forced to use the email link instead. ;)
