What can be done regarding anti social behaviour from neighbours?? Have called police on numerous occasions , and they say as she owns her home not much can be done, despite the fact she has been arrested , and the police are called most weeks . It seems rediculous that nothing can be done . I am at the end of my tether . :grr:

Unfortunately I feel perseverance will be required. The Police can deal with and prosecute anti-social behaviour. However as a private home-owner, she can't be evicted.

I would work with all your other neighbours, harass the council and keep getting the police to deal with it as needed. Have you complained to the neighbour? Is she violent or threatening to you? Is there anything else taking place that would be more successful in a prosecution.

You need to log every incident, phone call. Times, day, Date etc.
Contact the Borough Council - not the County Council.

They are supposed to deal with these situations with some newish legilsation from a couple of years ago- it may take a while to gather evidence mind. It usually helps your piece of mind when you start taking action through the official channels.

Word of warning though - they were utterly inept in dealing with a few problems we had three years ago.
Also contact your local Councilor - it's what they are paid for.

Hi grumpy1974, welcome to The Forum.

As you can see, no matter how desperate one's situation seems, you'll always find people on here who have been through similar things and are more than willing to help. Good luck getting a satisfactory resolution! Make sure you keep us posted. :)

Have you considered moving? Shouldn't have to I know but sometimes it is the easiest and best solution. Try and stay calm and positive, easier said than done I know.

The problem with this is any prospective purchaser will ask if there are problems with the neighbours. You are legally required to answer honestly.

You will need to record as much as you can, video and audio and keep a log of events. This sounds like a right nightmare though so I hope you get it sorted!

I was just assuming everyone was reading this thread to check it wasn't them being complained about...

whilst you shouldn't have to do it, the best thing you can do is hassle hassle hassle people. the borough council, the police, your local pcso, your local councillor, your mp, and like someone else said if you can get your other neighbours onside it will make things easier. the police won't want to do anything at first, but the more you call them (and, for want of a better phrase, become a nuisance to them) they will start to take it ,more seriously. FYI if you report that your neighbour has used abusive and threatening behaviour this is classed as a crime of violence for the statistics, so they will be more inclined to act upon it

May I suggest you consider discrete cctv or webcam. I bet somebody on here could loan you the kit.

You can then hand this in as evidence to the police and Borough Council. If then they do nothing you tube makes an excellent medium for authorities to act.

I will be honest I had problems with neighbours. More really with her kids being total pains, and when the issue was discussed obviously little bunnykins could do no wrong (even though the little shit (i mean little angel) was excluded from primary school 8 times in 12 months)

The list they did to us was endless.

I got myself £199 CCTV from Maplins and stood back. Within a couple of weeks the little darling was back with his mates. Police were called who watched CCTV and visited Vicky Pollard lookalike (who categorically denied said bunnykins had been out that night)

The words Hook - Line - Sinker came to mind.

No problems since lol

Good luck - I know CCTV is seen as being silly but it was worth every penny and gave us out sanity.

It's awful if you live next to selfish idiots, good luck. You need evidence - if it's noise get witnesses - the police really did nothing until we had evidence.

Sod that, put his head through his front door. All the better if it's a wooden one.

They sound like right scum :(

basil

And always get crime incident numbers, more than one and you have 'repeat victim' status may not sound Nice however it puts onus on authorities to take action........

either you live over the road from me, or your situation is exactly the same as someone who does! obv's don't say anything, in the name of anonymity ;)

we've lived in our current house for nearly 3 years, and we used to think that someone over the road was a copper, or friends with a copper, since there was a jam butty parked outside her house so often.. turns out that, no, she's just a drunken mentalist and the feds are always being called out to "attend" to her (with good reason)..

i came home a few weeks ago and noticed that her neighbour's front door had one of the small panes of glass boarded over, and my first thought was "god, i hope that wasn't anything to do with that nutter next door!".. if my above assumption is correct, then it sounds like it might have been - sorry to hear that :(

the missus & i were watching the latest altercation from our window the other night, and were both saying how sorry we feel for her neighbours, as it must be pretty scary for the kids, etc..

hope you get it sorted!
