And they'll still be overpriced Peugeots!
thanks for your input. whats your comparison?

These days Peugeot are doing pretty well at providing their vehicles at competitive prices against similar models in the market. For Example the Citroen C1 is priced from £8,695, the Toyota Aygo from £7,685 and the Peugeot 107 from £6,995 (as advertised on all 3 manufacturer websites).

For those that are unaware and is quite an interesting fact, Peugeot Petrol engines are used by Ford, BMW and Mini Cooper and Diesel engines are used Jaguar and Land Rover.

Vehicle choice is certainly a preference and of course everyone has their favourites (it would be boring if we were all the same) but as far as being overpriced this is a debateable statement.

Perseption is interesting - I would be interested in other comments.

That's a bit harsh.
Peugeot had a bad decade that started with the 206/307 (in fact I'd avoid anything Peugeot that ends in a 7!). These cars lost the traditional driving flair, but didn't improve the build quality. For me that was a home goal. The latest models are for the most part quite good and several have won awards recently. Once they have replaced the 207 for something that looks better and has better steering feel the model line up will be very strong indeed.

Agreed - Peugeot have come a long way over the last few years and are leading the way in regards to their technology too. Being the 1st manufacturer to release an ALL ELECTRIC vehicle (Peugeot iOn) into the Market place. We are looking forward to the launch of the new 3008 HYbrid in Oct/Nov 11 and the 208 will be replacing the 207 sometime next year which will be exciting.
The 3008 won car of the year 2010 and Crossover of the year 2010 and 2011 as voted by whatcar? Magazine. The Peugeot RCZ was voted coupe of the year 2010 by whatcar? Magazine and by Top Gear Magazine in 2011. 5008 was voted best MPV in 2010 by whatcar? magazine.

The below statement if taken from www.Carmony.co.uk in light of the recent Green Awards of 2011.
The top city car was named as the Peugeot Ion, reflecting the lack of any carbon emissions produced by the all-electric engine.
Judges noted that as well as being green, the iOn is "practical, affordable and fun-to-drive".

In addition, the Peugeot 508 Saloon 1.6 e-HDi, which produces 109g/km of carbon dioxide, was named the best large family car.

These are some excellent credentials to have and against price are very competative. I agree - Peugeot lost their way for a while with the 307 range (207 being a much better model) that is why the 307 was replaced quicker than the 207.

Exciting times for us all at Peugeot and it certainly keeps us on our toes!

Isn't this just one big massive FREE advert for Randles?
One could say the same about any of the pubs/restaurants/businesses who have signed-up here. If they have taken the time to sign-up, and actually reply to and engage with other users, as Randlesuk has done here, then fair play to 'em.

It's only hit 'n' run spam that is frowned upon. Stafford Forum is happy to support all Stafford businesses! :)

No problem. Ford would be a good place to start.

IMO you'd have to be insane to buy any of these cars, especially from new. Personal opinion only though.

Major lollage - utter bollocks.

PSA have developed engines with BMW for two variants of the mini, replacing the toyota unit.

PSA have developed engines with ford and jaguar since 1998. By no means are ford/land rover/jaguar using pug engines, they're using Ford engines with pug injection systems.

BMW have never, and never will put a pug engine in one of their proper cars (i.e. not a mini). A simply absurd statement to make.

Fair comment, don't disagree with you there, but whilst £7k + for a 107/C1/Aygo (same car) is very reasonable for a brand new car, I personally couldn't bring myself to part with several month's salary for something so awful.

7k also buys you a pretty tidy BMW 320d which will achieve similar real world fuel economy.

You make some good points, Fords produce some super vehicles. I love the focus Zetec in the bright colours they do but I am also sure some people would also consider this overpriced at List Price £17,500 (list price shown on Ford Direct website)
In regards to engines, Peugeot and BMW are committed to developing new technology to create engines which continue to lead the way in the automotive market. The fact remains that the components designed by Peugeot are being used in a wide range of engines by other manufacturers and that the engines designed by Peugeot continue to win awards in an extremely competitive industry. Without these parts the engines would not be as effective as they are.

Peugeot continue to invest heavily in research and new technology which will benefit not only our own vehicles but also vehicles produced worldwide including BMW. Asyou are obviously a big fan of engines and know how and why manufacturers develop new technology may I recommend you visit peugeot.co.uk and have a look at the new Peugeot 3008 Diesel Hybrid, the fist diesel hybrid in the world it's a really interesting read. I am sure you will agree that this kind of technology will allow lower co2 emissions across the board for a host of manufacturers and that can only be a good thing.

We appreciate that buying a new vehicle is not for everyone and therefore offer a wide range of used vehicles which includes other makes. With regards to picking up a BMW 320d for £7k I am sure there are used vehicles of this nature out there that suit that requirement, in fact, Randles also run a Sports and Prestige used car business alongside our Peugeot and Suzuki franchises. Please see.
Visit randlessportsandprestige to view our alternative website.

Randles have a long standing history within the market place starting as a Lotus, TVR and Maserati dealer and later a Vauxhall dealer. Randles are not saying that Peugeot or Suzuki are better or worse simply supporting the brands we are associated with and are proud to be a part of and highlighting their attributes and accolades to differentiate us from other brands. Gemma, do Randles price match online broker car prices?
Hello, we will look at this on a case by case basis to see if its something we can match as it depends on the variants.

Please can you PM me the following and I shall investigate further:-

Spec/engine

Price (on the road).

See what I can do :D

Thanks for your reply Gemma.

I agree with you about PSA development into engines, they make some fantastic advances and engineer them into the common place very well.

With regard to the focus, until you've thrashed the nuts off one on welsh mountain road (not that I have ever done that with mine.....ahem) you don't really see the difference with other cars, but when the tight chasis and McPhearson struts all round kicks in it invariably puts a smile on your face other cars in the class simply cannot match.

Thanks for your link to the prestige cars section of your business, I'm on it right now actually (I used the BMW example because I'm currently in the market for 7k BMW 3 series, although probably a 330ci rather than a 320d) seeing what you have to offer :D

Yes, I have to say I have been very impressed with how Randlesuk have responded to everyone, even the occasional nay-sayer. Very encouraging, and definitely portrays a company in a good light, in my opinion. :)
