    I have been here before

    In another life.

Another state of mind, a different heart.

    Maybe innocent.

    Wanting without knowing,

    Needing without thinking.

    With those I hold dearest,

    I can see them now,

    Here amongst strange familiarity.

    A rented home.

    These ghosts.

    This place is haunted beauty.

    The ocean stretched out,

Framed by cliffs and green and blue.

I have cast this shadow before,

Upon the path I now follow.

    Under this sun,

    Along the cliff edge.

    I have smelt these smells,

Where the sea meets the shore.

    I have been here before.

    Memories as spirit,

    Perfect moments,

When all I knew was the infinite present.

And now the passing of time, perspective,

    Temporal limitation.

    The limit creates possibility,

    Of beauty, love and sentiment.

    All that is temporary.

    I have been here before.

    Tuesday 10am

    The train to Euston,

A sea of laptops, tablets and phones.

Screens flashing up emails, house of cards, autotrader,

Line of duty – sometimes more than one screen for a pair of eyes and ears.

    Facebook, whatsapp, whatever.

    At 10am on a Tuesday.

Work calls, conference and the like.

    Signal cutting out.

Frustration with the lack of goddamn connection.

    Big shots don’t go without.

A trip to the loo, up the aisle as it were,

    Reveals endless scrolling.

Through emails, texts, flicking through fit girls – hey mate check this out.

This is work time but a life time,

    That can’t be told apart.

Headphones are on shutting out the world.

    For interruptions every second.

    Notifications beckon,

    The attention elsewhere.

Does the thumb know what the mind wants?

Or does agitation lead to movement before the brain engages.

To let the screen lead the brain where distraction may wander.

The chicken or the egg, nature or nurture.

The mind in space and time,

    The tech utopia.

    Tuesday 10am,

    Traditionally work time.

Sorry. Remind me how United have done in the Champions League and premiership this season. Or for the last six seasons in fact...

In terms of trophies in those two competitions about the same as yours; however we still need to employ a cleaner to polish the contents of our trophy cabinet :)

Great to see two, possibly four English teams in the European finals nonetheless. Enjoy while you can.

Are we really surprised when the broken breaks things.
That we have no idea of what a certain life brings.
Are we really surprised when the addict acts addicted.
As if they are normal and not actually afflicted.
Do we simply allow our fear to dictate
That we lock them away and that this is their fate.
To rinse and repeat again and again
To allow their lives to continue along in such pain
Or do we finally accept that the answer’s to treat.
Is it really such an incredibly feat
To fund for the treatment of those in such pain.
So they don’t need to cry out again and again.
