Revolution - not the best start with a fight

Just happened to be passing over the bridge and saw his - very ugly. Around 4;30 pm Sunday - Police called. Glasses flying between pissed-up knuckle-dragging morons standing outside on the river-front with security out-numbered, and some of them forcing their way inside the main bar to continue it. What a shame - and hope this is not the theme for the rest of the new river-side bars/cafes. Half-price cocktails and a bit of sunshine plus poor control of their outside area with obvious yobs served drinks (baseball hats a-plenty) = public disturbance. The Police surely have better things to do than this, and I'd bet this place will now be on their watch list.

I hate to point the finger at fresh young management, but this must be stopped or Stafford Riverside will get the wrong reputation before it starts. I'm really hoping this is an isolated one-off

Needless to say I won't be going anywhere near the place. God only knows what the inside customers must have felt.

Couldn't give a monkeys what it was related to, hope a few of those fighting spent a night in the cells.

Actually, on second thoughts, at least I could understand a fight about shagging someone's missus or similar. Fighting over which group of overpaid nobheads can kick a pig bladder better, when your only affiliation with them is one of your choosing and not theirs, seems remarkably stupid in my eyes.

EDIT: Also, the council need to sort those windows out. There is a difference between shabby chic and shabby as shit.

I was there around the same time. Drunk morons fighting over 'what's his problem?' Type scenarios. No door-staff but that's hardly surprising for a Sunday afternoon. It meant the place was shut down for the rest of the day.

I remember the Litten Tree having a similar drunk fight vibe to it. I hope it doesn't go the same way as its a nice venue in what will be a prime location.

You need to stamp down hard at the start, otherwise the 'old lot' always return. Pricing them out of the market is certainly one strategy, but another is to just not let them in. Many new landlords are too soft on the trouble makers, who consider it 'their pub'. I saw a few attempts to reinvent the Antelope, all failed because the same old locals kept returning. Same happened in Doxey, and all shared a similar fate (Doxey doesn't even have a pub now, nobody wants to open one there!).

If they don't want Revolution to become the new Litter Tray they need to sort things out, although if its true that Casa have taken over the Post House maybe a few will go there instead.

The revolution is a lovely building serving decent beer and food. Its far too good (and I suspect too expensive) for the morons that had a brawl on Sunday. Every town / village has a small percentage of idiots; sadly Stafford is no different.

I don't think we should 'tar' this new bar with the same brush as the Littern Tree or assume that this pub will attract trouble. The morons will soon get bored (maybe they already have) and crawl back under their rock.

They will be judged both on themselves and the people that frequent there, hopefully they'll be a bit more careful who they serve in future. Maybe make sure they have no drinks promotions on at the same time as football matches would help!

I don't recall there being any drink promotions on when I visited the bar on Saturday. I also don't recall seeing any TV's in the bar so I don't see why football would have caused a problem at the venue.

I am hoping that the trouble was a one off and as result of a number of factors: it was a sunny day and the last game of the football season, coupled with a new bar to try and fancy new beers / cocktails meant that there were a few more idiots out and drinking more alcohol....

There was no drink promotions nor tv with football on last night.

drinks not cheap and nothing but well to do decent people drinking and eating. Very nice place and nice food. Hopefully a one off. Lets not tar the place by overreacting.

What do they serve their food on?

My burger was served on a wooded bread board and a slice of grease proof paper (instantly destroyed by the less than effective brioche bun and sauce contained in said burger) and the chips in a small enamel mug......It would appear that sides are also served in enamel trays as well.

A very lovely friend of mine was in there for a meal with her family this afternoon. A group of foul-mouthed yobs at the next table were discussing at high volume and embarrassing detail how they liked to pass time with ladies.

She ushered her family out, then told the youths that their mothers would be ashamed of them.

It doesn't sound like a Flossietoo place.
