Today being Kenneth Horne's Birthday, I took advantage of the National Holiday and went to RAF Cosford for the day. I was originally intending to go to Claverton Manor, near Bath, as he had been the commanding officer of a barrage balloon unit there during the war (even though that sounds like the start of a sketch). Unfortunately, Claverton Manor is now the home of the
American Museum in Britain and it's not open until next month.
Anyway, I got to see an Argosy again, which still has the nicest 'face' of any aircraft.
On the way in, I noticed signs offering directions to the 'RAF Regiment Breakfast' - I chose to avoid following them, of course. I can't imagine what it would look like...
