Rugby Club progress...

The vast swathe of pitches, carparks and newt detoxing facility (sorry, clubhouse) is only a few yards from the river being modified, and will be sharing the same floodwater. How can that be nowt to do with the rugby club?

Get off your lazy arse and go look at the distance. It is at least quarter of a mile away....yards my arse.

it is work that is all part of western access.

lets face this the umpteenth this has happened in the area. Most the ponds were even created on the marshes. The result wad not to bad was it.

No it doesn't.

there are no alterations being made to the river because of the rugby club which isn't in the area of where the work is currently occurring which is at the cresswell end of the marshes to significantly improve the wildlife offer of the marshes and aid in matters of flooding down stream.

Of course as conspiracy theorists talk and make up a lot of s*** there is nothing positive as nothing is ever good enough.

Just for clarification, as @Gareth has indicated, the work, currently being undertaken, is habitat improvement work between the river and Creswell Flash, near to the M6. This is being carried out "as part of the mitigation measures for the Stafford Western Access Route".

More details, including some drone footage of the works in progress, can be found at http://www.staffs-wildlife.org.uk/n...fe-habitat-be-enhanced-part-major-road-scheme

The work is scheduled for completion next month.

Still looks to me as though the finger of rugby club land extends to the pond fed directly by the river, This area is going to be lowered as part of the RUFC proposal. Cumulative environmental effects have to be considered, so you can't treat the Western Excess Road or its 'mitigation' as a separate entity.
Also, why is it that no-one bothers about the immediate effect of excavating all that land near the M6?

It might just be me being ever so silly, but I imagine that when they decide to build a bypass, they hire structural engineers to assess the impact on any surrounding structures.

Like the engineers who underestimated the depth of the marsh, with the result than the road will cost us millions more?

They have planning permission get on with it ,or are we waiting on funding ? Or more flood prevention works to be completed ? Or whilst the diggers are over the marshes they may borrow earth from one side for the other , ow I remember planning consent was granted earlier this decade and it did not happen ? A big bag of money if it's fecked up environmentally or is another twist in the waiting !

I've followed links on here as I've seen them and I haven't seen any article that says what you claim it says. So I'd appreciate it if you could point me to the specific article.

I love (not really) when members of the public think they've thought of something in their idle musings that the long series of designers haven't thought of in the years of prep, planning, testing, feasibility, fundraising and design a project like this takes.

"Yeah but did they think of..."

Yes, yes they did. Probably fifteen years ago.

Oh no they didn't. Do you accept the council as a reliable source?
