Sadly missed? Blasts from the past - A reminder of Stafford's past

Apparently, there was an even earlier fire staion located on Bridge Street. Just as well it's not there today!
The one on Bridge St/Greengate St was next to the Brine baths and they used to hang their hoses out to dry in the tower there.http://www.search.staffspasttrack.o...=&direction=&pointer=1811&text=0&resource=633

The captain in the chrome helmet was Mr Earnest Haywood, he was a friend of my grandfather (also a fireman). He was the landlord of a pub on Broad Eye. Bit of useless info but I own the bell off the first ever fire engine in Stafford.

don't mention the blinds
re the photo of the Bridge St Fire Station, there is someone at the upper window in the background. Maybe it's the hose hanger outer?........

Have we mentioned the concrete yacht on the Brocton Road out of Milford? It was there into the 80s, I'm sure, but then I stopped noticing it. I'm fairly sure that it's been gone for a good while now. Does anybody know if it eventually made it to the sea?

Recently deceased - the Tchibo shop, just by the Stafford Street junction. I got a very nice ultrasonic cleaning tank in there.

The item in the picture is the same device, despite the Turkish text. It was the only accurate picture that I could find.

Sandy Bottoms for me........
Them were certainly the days. Both the one's down by the river and the one's under a pier at Blackpool, but that's another story ;)

I know its nothing to do with the thread, butchers try the one in Greyfriars opposite job centre, beats the supermarkets.

Just read Mrs M. shakey bridges wow me and my mates used go in the summer on a sunday. Take a bottle of water and sarnies in newspaper, nearest we got to a holiday. God I feel old. We used to go
across what is now called Doxey marshes that leads to the big houses on Eccleshall Road climb the walls and scrump apples. The fun and freedom kids of today miss. Oh and before I go The Sandonia in the threepenny "bunnyrun" as we called the front seats.
