Be aware this was taken from this forum. This is a regular thing that they hit a area. There was a brand new housing estate in cannock they hit last year in cannock hitting every house to the point the builders actually paid for everyone to have a alarm as it was becoming back advert for them. Another was near j11 m6 where they were breaking in 1st floor rear windows as no one were suspecting them and very rare does anyone have the alarm system connected upstairs they they were not being detected during the day and house owners would know till they get home. Get secured before youra victim aswell.

Hi all,

A friend of mine in Wild Wood has his house broken into last week during the day when everyone was at work. He got a new window cleaner the day before the break in and was thinking that maybe they could have been involved. The window cleaner pushed a flier through his door some days before.

I didn't think it likely at first but thinking more about it, a window cleaner is able to look through all your windows to see what sort of stuff you have without arousing suspicion. They also get to know when you're not at home.

My friend only had gold stolen and nothing else even thought he had some silver and electronic stuff. If they're only interested in gold then surely they somehow knew there was some there before they broke in? I can't imagine burglars would want to break in without first knowing it's worth their time.

I won't name the window cleaner as it's just speculation but if my friend's suspicions are right then surely other people have had the same thing happen and if so it would be good to collate the information.

Im a fully insured security engineer was apprentice of ADT and worked for chubb and initial. Ill offer a inclusive maintance at a price that cant be beaten if you are interested. Call me on 07967687138 or 01785 213247 or email me a mksecurity@live.co.uk

I have added quote tags to make it more clear that you were quoting a post, from this thread:

http://www.staffordforum.com/xf/index.php?threads/window-cleaner-and-burglary.10234/

It should be noted that the same person then went on to say:

My friend thinks the window cleaner was a coincidence. There's been some similar thefts around Stafford most likely by the same people and none of them had a window cleaner.
Obviously, that doesn't change the message that one should secure one's home; I just wanted to clarify your original post, so there was no undue hysteria.

Thanks. :)

Surely A burglar wouldn't leave his contact details? Maybe some poor window cleaner guy is going out of business before he has even started, as stated in a previous thread above, ( follow admin link ) not everyone had a window cleaner!

Floss, Don't think it would effect them to much, because in reality not that many people in stafford actually use the forum

I had a guy last year knock at my door and claimed to have just been released from stafford prison only two hours earlier and he had a large holdall full of stuff he was selling, he claimed he needed the train fare and if I didn't want to buy would, I consider donating £5 towards his train fare.
I often wondered if he managed to "buy" a load of gear to sell within two hours of being released and ask for donations then why didn't he just use the money he had towards a train fare and just sit outside the station with a begging bowl for the rest!

Enjoying a drop of red.

I think you might be surprised at how many people lurk on here that don't actually contribute :)

Sounds like we had the same guy come round a few weeks ago. After hubbys nice little 'chat' with him he left empty handed!

Saw a TV programme once where an ex-con was showing how easy it was to gain access to properties which people thought were secure.
One way was to carry some ladders , walk up the path calling out "window cleaner" so that anyone in (in that case he'd just say "oops sorry, wrong house" )or neighbours watching wouldn't suspect anything suspicious, and get himself into the smallest of windows.
He even managed to pinch someones dog , take the car keys for the car left in their driveway and after loading the car with the dog and stolen goods drove off on his merry way. The neighbours said afterwards that they had even said good morning to the bloke as he looked so confident and didn't arouse their suspicions!
