Selling a House without an agent

No experience but if you have a buyer lined up then, as you probably know, you can by pass the Estate Agent and move straight to the next stage which is the survey.

I have never heard of the company Trepilo.

As a recent house purchaser - as long as it's on RightMove that's all that matters!

I tried my hardest to by-pass all estate agents...

Apparently you cannot list on RightMove if you are selling independent of an agent who subscribes to it

That's frustrating!

I didn't visit any estate agents or any other websites - just went strait to RightMove and went from there -

Gone are the days where Estate Agents are 'trustworthy' or 'reliable' (were they ever?) -

I found they constantly tried to sell me shit I didn't want - most were pushy, rude and some even broaching on threatening...

I think any buyer and seller with a half a brain should try and cut them out - an unnecessary expense methinks..

I always presumed selling your house independently would become the norm, but that idea just hasn't materialised.

Why?

Almost every other thing we/you have in life or have once owned could be (i think i'm right) sold on, except a house (in most cases), it's almost frowned upon.

Why X2?

this

RightMove are the first and often only point of contact for a purchase

Estate Agents pay several thousand pounds a month/quarter to be listed here

Advertising locally maybe OK but often people are re locating/ not reading local press/ etc etc

You could always advertise with an agent (insuring they don't tie you into a contract) they advertise via RightMove,

All you do is mention to all prospective buyers that you would prefer to sell independently as ultimately this will save you (and by course - them) a fair chunk of money.

When I purchased my house I made my offer minus £2000 and explained to the seller that by simply cutting out the estate agent they would receive the same amount regardless.

Unfortunately the plebs had sold their soul to Brigefords and were tied into a contract - I had to increase my offer by £2000 simply to pay for their fees.

Estate agents and mortgage brokers are the devils spawn. They are not there to help you, they are their to sell you the deal that makes them the most commission. Never ever ever trust them. Although i cannot prove it i got royally screwed by an estate agent over my current house. He invented a second bidder and we had to do sealed bids. Got the house for a few thousand over the asking price. Felt chuffed until i realised there was no second bidder. Mortgage brokers are just as bad, "oh this is the lowest ive seen for a long time", " this is a fantastic rate" translates to "take this one dickhead, ill make a couple of grand off your dumb ass"
