Some number of years ago i had an interesting conversation with a visiting 'dignitary' to our humble heritage operation.
His thesis was that, essentially, the 'sort' of person that gets involved in local politics is generally 'sports' oriented, rather than 'arts' oriented.
Local politics is thus heavily bent that way.
Outside of the big Metro areas, the 'Gente' - you know, the 'right' kind of people right? like Sofa, for example, previously of this Parish, that actually put themselves forward, Sofa joined the Freemasons ffs. After putting himself forward as a Green candidate. And then the Labour guy from Littleworth,
@RowanDraper , who betrayed us all by voting through the Rugby Club thing on the Marshes, then went all 'Labour are terrible, even though it would have been actually quite difficult to have been worse' and then finding himself unseated .
Backwater out-of-the-way places like Stafford are fronted by the kind of arseholes like
@RowanDraper who couldn't give a flying f**k about Culture, about Heritage, about any of that. He will be replaced by A.N.Other arsehole who feels the exact same way.
They will not know their Arts from their elbow.
And, what is more, they will not care to know.
