With the closer moderation suggested above to ensure consistent thread titles "Event name, date, location" or something for every thread, should be nice and easy to use.

Exactly what I was thinking, thanks. :)

The new Forum will look cleaner in general. No unnecessary sidebar elements, the broken RSS will finally go and, you'll all be glad to hear, sans serif fonts! :D

I hadn't paid much attention to the sidebar, hadn't really noticed it. same with the events tab at the top, not used it until reading this thread, then I see the calendar you are on about.
i'm used to and prefer to look at the events section and the threads in there. I only realised the cycling was on in town a few weeks ago when I checked. i'd rather see the threads of events happening in the next few days at the top, I wouldn't want them bumped off the top of the list for events happening in a few months, i'd like that section in order of events happening, then moved to a subsection of finished events when done, if people want to comment on them

The Three Day upcoming event chart is useful, to those that look at it.

The map thing in the current system is pointless and doesn't work properly - it insists on putting the Castle and the Showground in the wrong places, for example - if people don't know where places are, then it's simple to give them enough detail to find them.

The current system doesn't deal with events that occur over several days very well.

I don't look at the current monthly view very often.

The option to repeat events was clogging the system up at one point, whenever you looked at it it just seemed largely the same - that has dropped off a bit now, though.

The 'next three day' thing is, i concede, a nice feature but i had got to the point where i was loath to post events because it's so tiresome.

In fact, the last time i posted an event was for the wildplay thing at Wolseley Bridge, which i did in the 'Surrounding Areas' sub-forum because i remembered rather last-minutedly and i just didn't have time (with a side order of cba-edness) to post it as a 'proper' event.

It will be sadly missed by no one.

Well, that's that then. I have removed all trace of the former Events system, in order to tidy up the database in preparation for the future upgrade.

As you can see, all of the Event threads are still there, but the original posts lack all of the info that the original system inserted.

Thanks for your input, ladies, gentlemen, and other. :stafford:
