Skyrides Stafford

As the (self-appointed) SF Morals Monitor on this ride I am happy to report that the behaviour of Flossietoo and Stoofer was impeccable, I might say even chaste. Flo2 was resplendent in her flowing cycling dress & bonnet whilst Stoofer was just Stoofer, cigar clamped in his jaw, determined not to be lapped by anybody, least of all Flossies labradoodles! Yours truly was only deprived of the Stage victory by a thrown chain on the final 500 metres. (I suspect sabotage at the pit stop).

We had a brilliant morning. It was lovely to meet Stoofer and Monkey B (the latter in heavy disguise...at least...I think it was a disguise...) as well as a very nice 'lurker' inspired to join the Sky Rides after reading this thread. If you are reading this, I hope that you join us one day on the Forum. My cloak of anonymity was obviously not very effective - even our guest had me pegged pretty quickly. Perhaps the dress was a mistake.

Here is a picture of one of the ride leaders today, at Seighford, being followed by all the adventurous cyclists in our party.

The Sky Rides are winding down for the winter now. There is a repeat of the Cannock Chase one next weekend (only for the staunchest of heart) and that's pretty much it in Stafford. There are a few more in Newcastle, though, running into October.

I'm getting a new one next summer. I am spending the next six months drooling over carbon frames and trying to get my head round the various gearing options. Having done that, I will walk into a store and choose 'the blue one'.

In the meantime, I have decided to make my current bike go faster by reducing unnecessary weight. Mine.

I admire your memory and/or sense of direction. I tried to reprise the route a few weeks ago. I was definitely right as far as Chebsey but from there, I got completely lost. I went back and forth through Chebsey a few times, hazarded a guess and got home more by luck than judgement.
