Snow.

I've moved my snow shovels out of the shed and into the garage today .
Mmm, does the garage door open outwards at the bottom?

It can be awkward, if you get up in the morning and find a foot of snow banked up against it..

Most garage doors and almost all shed doors can be a struggle to open in snowy conditions, without the aid of the tools that are trapped inside..

Run over to Sainsbury's about 5 pm and have picked up enough bits and pieces to last until Wednesday. It started snowing just before I left and conditions quickly turned into a mini blizzard. Followed a BMW through Doxey and driver seemed to be in great difficulty just moving in a straight line. Reports of about 6 inches of snow in Telford this afternoon.
If Sundays snow is wet then it could start bringing down overhead lines, if you are out of town it might be a good idea to make a few preparations.

My kitchen door opens into the garage , so safe there . Learnt my lesson with the shed door in the past with all the shovels trapped nice and cosy inside.

Not looking forwards to driving down Acton Trussell lanes from the Moat House if we wake up to deep snow on Sunday. Wonder if the works will pay for a few more nights stay if it looks like us being snowed in (and keep the works bar tab open :D )

About 10pm last night an idiot raced down the street, lost control on the corner & ploughed straight into my neighbours garden.....she took out the front fence, 2 concrete posts, 3 wheeliebins & nearly had the lamp post over.....completely denied it & said she had 'just scraped the tree'! Someone was watching over the lad who lives there, he usually waits outside on the path for his lift to work but was luckily running late.... :grr:

So glad that lad was running late @littleme ! My mate at work always used to say "things happen for a reason" .

Having my hair cut later , but decided I'm not not going to the works do tonight, so hubby will be going on his own. But he's getting @rsy about my announcement :blah:

Never used to bother me driving in wintry conditions, driven hundeds of miles in thick snow and ice without an accident over the years and never gave it a thought. But since an (uninsured) moron ploughed into me at full pelt while I was sitting waiting to turn right by the Bodmin Ave shops years ago, I dread getting into any car with ice and snow. Even worse as a passenger. Had to drive to the hospital when hubby was in during a wintry spell , but if I can avoid it now I will. Not worried about my driving skills , but keep thinking everyone is going to come skidding into me as they approach on bends and junctions .

Back end of my camper van was sliding about on my way to the
shops this am, I don't think I'll be going out unless I have to. :ohno:

I got too and from town fine. Now off to Wychnor, where there is very little snow apparently.

Off to the Manchester Derby tomorrow, going to leave home 2 hours earlier than usual. The OH won't let me borrow the Range Rover...

Planned trip to Shrewsbury to meet the parents who are there in their motorhome has already been scuppered.... The amount of snow they've had there already is rediculous...

Had to pop over to Shrewsbury this morning. I go via Newport out towards Shrewsbury via Harper Adams. About 10ish the road was tricky for those who didn't have four wheel drive, but coming back the same way at midday there were no issues at all.

Bit pissed off because the client I was going to meet only rang to cancel just as I turned up to my premises. Tosser.

We're flying into Liverpool Airport this afternoon, trying to work out if we're in for a problematic trip back by plane & train or not.

No train issues so far, apart from Cross Country's strike. I'm leaving the car and going to train to Manchester.

Lucy, Check the trains coming back because there is a 1927 (which will be a push to catch if the match overruns) and then the next Cross Country is about 2200. The 2007 which I'm booked on isn't running.

There are Virgin Trains services but they'll cost more and you'll need to change at Stoke or Crewe.

Enjoy the game.

Snow is expected to fall for much of today over Midlands, so a changing situation. Although much of the heavier snow looks to be falling a bit south of Stafford. I have had another 2/3 inches of snow overnight.

Going for the 7.55 which will cost more but it's better than missing it.

We're flying from Manchester tomorrow lunchtime, to Krakow (or at least planning to). Hopefully all the fans going to the Manchester and Liverpool derbies will sort out the snow on the motorways.

And I'd been planning to go to Bath (and back) today with the team, joining up with them in Birmingham. I'd baled-out yesterday, but I now understand they're not going for safety reasons, and because the coach company in Brum can't get the coaches out of the depot.
