New landlord starts at the kings arms tomorrow.

Ooh, any idea if they'll start selling actual cider rather than that hereford swill they currently have? Tried to give them another shot twice now, at least 6 months between times and been very disappointed each time. Even the bottles were just random flavoured alcopops, used to love going in there years ago and is very local to my OH but I can't see the point of paying for a drink you don't want to actually drink.

I was chatting to the new landlord last week (he's a regular in The Market Vaults) and he said there will be boxes of proper cider...possibly also some bottles. I told him you'd be interested but forgot to tell you!

Really, bloody excellent! We used to drink there all the time til it went downhill, I'll be sure to pop in soon.

I was talking to Ed about getting cider, he's not against it but is trying to get the beers up and running first. it is part of the Dorbierre group so it is not difficult to get boxed cider (visit the Star & Garter, they now have 2 boxes ), you just have to drink it

We went in at the weekend, he's aiming to have some boxed cider in this Tuesday I believe. I'll be in either Wed or Thurs to check!

Anyone eaten in the Spittal Brook recently? Popped in the other day but no food being served, apparently they have a decent looking menu now though.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Went in on day after boxing day for a drink with some mates. Beer was good but the staff didn't seem interested in us spending our money there so we left and spent our money at the Floodgate instead, with a bite to eat at the Bear later on.

When will places realise that you have to be nice to customers for them to spend money with them? In all, considering there were eight of us, they must have missed out on over £200 including food.

Is it still the same bar staff (apart from Lee) that were there when Pete was running the place? Cos nearly all the youngsters that worked the bar then were some of the rudest individuals I have ever met. If they all had 1 manner between them it was a miracle.

Don't know because it's a couple of years since I was last in there. They weren't rude as such, they just didn't want to know us.

Anyway, their loss as our contribution to the local economy on that day went elsewhere and we won't be darkening their door again.

We've tried a couple of times to adopt ths pub as our local but found it didn't offer a warm enough welcome

We tried the burgers last week. Worth a try. But I agree the staff are not very welcoming. We go in there more or less weekly. And never had a conversation with them.. they really dont seem interested.. beers good though )
