Stafford aerial photos / videos by drone

Whilst I'm taking practice shots from my drone, I thought I'd share here any general ones I take around Stafford. The quality isn't the best going as it's just using the stock fitted camera at the moment which only gives around 1MP pictures. I won't be investing in a go-pro just yet incase I have any early hiccups ;)

What is particularly pleasing about the advent of the "Drone Photograph"
is the image information which we had not previously had. Now, the
ability to make panoramic views is there and we are seeing much more
than we had previously imagined.

WMR's Prospect Road Shops shows that the shops serve a community
and are not a town centre feature. Stafford Heritage's High House photo
reveals St Mary's and its position relative to the high house and left me
wondering if anyone had ever seen that view before

Like all those thousands of package holiday makers who flocked to
window seats on a plane because so few had ever seen clouds from
above, we now have the possibility of seeing so much more and it's
very, very pleasing.

Many, many thanks WMR and please keep them coming.

It's very difficult to take them where I'd like to. The biggest problem is that you aren't supposed to fly over the top of buildings or crowds of people etc without CAA permission - which with one of the two approved training courses would cost me in the region of £2000!

They're supposed to be toughening up on the laws regarding drones (or really I should say Unmanned Aircraft Systems). As it stands at the moment there are strict guidelines for hobbyist flyers like myself, but to take pictures such as the Ancient High House one above which meant flying outside of those guidelines DOES need permissions. Under new laws they're hoping to bring in that would mean that even hobbyist flyers would need permissions regardless. Due to the costs involved there will either be a lot of law breakers or thousands of unused middle-age crisis toys sitting gathering dust around the country.

Personally I'm hoping that they bring in a cheaper equivalent for hobbyists that don't wish to make money but prove they have the necessary skills to fly safely. Then I could soon start to fill this thread up! :)

I'm hoping to get some town park images soon, but for the above reasons it would have to be done VERY early morning just after sunrise while there aren't many people around. A difficult one as I don't do early mornings ;)

I'm out test flying at "the rec" most nights (by Prospect Road shops) at 9pm subject to the weather. Whilst it's too dark for photgraphy purposes it's a good time to fly for practice as it can be seen very clearly because of the bright led lights and looks amazing. I just thought I would mention it incase anyone is curious about these gadgets. If anyone does pop along at any point, don't stand back - come and say hello! :)

You could send it down to the chippy with a note and some change, if it's raining one night...

How about hovering outside the top floor of Scaffold Place so we can see what really goes on in there.
