Stafford Council tell Plumbits to take down signs after 20 years

Goldilox

How do I edit this?
It seems a little ironic that one of the signs that has been there 20 years says: "sale now on in new bathroom showroom".

I just think it shows some ineptitude on the part of the council for a local solicitor to point out something they should have done 20 years ago. Unfortunately, if there is any connection between this and new business in the town, I can't see how the council can discriminate between a local and national supplier, the rules need to be the same and applied equally to both.

Oh and how many more charity shops do we really need. Yes they do good in our local community but our town is dying. I have a few companies in Stafford and I believe shops are disappearing due to very high rates. Stafford council is a joke. If I move to Cannock or Telford I can get free rates for fixed terms and un fixed depending on the kind of company that applies.
I speak to the planning dept on a weekly basis. Red tape and Zero common sense. Highways dept very helpful but the people who sit in the planning office need to be ashamed

I'm in the trade and Plumbits have got me out of the mire more than once - top team!!
I get roped into some plumbing now and then, and they've never let me down* - I was concerned when Len Hayward packed it in, but they've covered for him ever since..

*Even gave me a phone number for some shower spares that they didn't deal in.

Staffordshire County Council run the highways department, Stafford Borough Council run the planning department, which might explain the difference in customer service. Or not.

But your MP's have historically overcomplicated any chance of clarity in procedure by introducing thousands of changes in legislation into the system

Because they seek attention and promotion ahead of all else

I would just like to thank every body for the support i have been shown and many letters, emails, phone calls from all over the midlands, even a offer on saturday from a gentleman to walk up the high street with a sandwich board, and not to frorget the 80 year old man putting it on his face book page to tell all his friends,
Top and tale we have been here for 29 years this year, employing local people, and looking after peoples requirements, and offering a service that some of the bigger nationals cannot, asking me to take down my signs after 20 years is beggars beleif, and were as it would be easy just to roll over and let myself be bullied because a firm of local solicitors has complained about them, and for what reason i am not sure ,on this occasion i am not going to roll over,i think its worth a fight for common sense.
The high street is suffering and all efforts must be made to keep it alive, and i believe the council should be spending our money in promoting are town and high street, and not to pick on the nice people at plumbits, whom basicly want to keep there jobs and survive.

I have been completly humbled and staggerd at the amount of support we have been shown,

a big thank you from me and the nice people at plumbits

many thanks

To be fair to the solicitors they will only be acting under instruction from somebody else, I don't think I've ever heard of one doing something for free? If we boycotted every solicitor that did something we disagreed with we'd have no solicitors left, we can but dream.

As for the sign thing, what exactly is the law on sign dimensions? If anyone has the details I'll keep an eye out for others breaking the rules, large corporations only though.
