Stafford FM's Comedy Club

Starting a topic for Rob Halden's Comedy Club (me, for those not in the know) on Stafford FM. The aim of this topic is to increase the show's interactivity with the forum. In much the same way that people interact with radio and TV shows via facebook and twitter, I want to be able to do the same via Stafford Forum. So whether suggestions/comments are posted here during the week, or as-it-happens during the show, we'll be aiming to use the comments on the air and give you guys a shout-out.

So what I'm looking for from you lovely Forumites is;

What kind of stand-up comedy clips would you like to hear played on the show? Who are your favourite comedians? If there's a usable clip out there, and it's not a stupid suggestion like Roy Chubby Brown, then I'll try and get it on the air.

Have you been to any good comedy gigs? Either in Stafford or outside, let us know who you've been to see and what the show was like.

Are there any comedy shows in Stafford that you know about? We're pretty hip to what's going down in Stafford town, but let us know of anything we've missed.

Make your requests for The One & Only Song Request! We only play 1 song in 4 hours, and it could be YOUR song!

Which local comedians would you like to hear on the show? We know that Tom Allsopp is a favourite of the Stafford Forum, but have you seen any other comics locally that you'd like us to try and get on the air?

On top of that, let us know any birthdays or local events you want to plug and we'll do our best to give it a mention.

So leave your comments & suggestions in this topic and The Comedy Club will interact with you every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Stafford FM

An excellent idea! Hopefully people will get stuck-in in time for tomorrow's Club broadcast. :)

Could you play a song for my friend who has just got out of hospital after having an oops graft. A patch of oops was removed from his thigh and grafted just above his ear.

He’s a bit down at the moment, so ‘I Don't Believe You Want To Get Up And Dance’ by The Gap Band would suit his mood perfectly.

I still can't get used to hearing Stafford mentioned so often on the radio! Quite often, when I've got Radio 1 on in the background and am tinkering around at home, I hear "So and so from Stafford has sent a text saying...", which obviously pricks my ears up. With this being 'Stafford FM' you'd think my brain would have adjusted to hearing it, but it still gets me every time!

Did you see The Untold Tommy Cooper over Winterval? And did it influence your choice?

If you didn't, and it didn't, then do.

Nobody died on stage quite like Tommy died on stage. It may even be how he'd have wanted it. If you do watch the above, without having already watched the above, you have to love Spike Milligan in tears of laughter when TC comes on Eric Sykes' This Is Your Life.

Come to think of it, given we have an actor in a prime-time Beeb comedy show in our midsts,

http://www.staffordforum.com/viewtopic.php?pid=139802#p139802

might it not be worth getting him on to talk about the 'Making Of...' sort of thing?

I missed the Tommy Cooper show (which is odd since I was at my parent's house and both my Dad and me are big fans) so thanks for that link! I did see two of the Les Dawson documentarries on Beeb2 which influenced me to get him on the show. His monologues are perfect for 'talk-radio'.

And I did not know that about Mrs. Brown's Boys, so thanks again! I'll have to see if I can get in touch with him and see if he wants to chat on the air. I was initially a bit skepical of that series, thought it might be a bit broad for my taste, but ended up loving it.
